Well, I went and test the new FW ( .700 ) and honestly, I am very very impressed with the signal strength.

Previously on .550, the furthest I hit was around 3.08k meters away when my Video signal totally cuts off and
my radio signal down to 2 bars.

Testing .700 this mid-morning, and I hit 3.52k meters away and I still have full radio signal and a video signal of between full and 4 bars, but is mostly full bars..

I would have tried to test flying further but my battery was down to 58% and having it in my mindset not to fly any further when it is close to 50%, I hit RTH and have the pleasure of watching my bird fly home safe and sound..

So far so good on .700... really impressed on this section..

Good to hear. Unlike you, I have never had signal strength issues with any firmware specifically.
Did a 4.0km dist away last week on .600 and a 3.75 today on .700 at a different site. Turned around due battery and not signal strength though. Might try and go bit further tomorrow.

How low do you allow your signal strength to go before you don't feel safe continuing?

I start getting anxious at 3 bars :p

I never look at the signal strength meter and wouldn't even know which icon portrays it. I just wait for the weak signal pop up message or sketchy video and use either as a climb trigger.

maybe like you, 3 to 2 bars.. but if there is radio signal interference, I won't fly for more than 1k meters away from me...
better safe than sorry

well, other than the massive signal improvement for me., and I kind of really enjoyed fixed wing mode

I'll say .700 is the FW I'll roll back to if any new firmware updates have freaky issues with my bird..

now if only I can find some new scenery to make a video with... kind of lacking in my little town..
unless you guys enjoyed watching trees and trees and more trees.. haha

Trees are good! as long as they are not closeups! thanks for the work.

Anyway, a heads up to you guys doing firmware updates..

in my previous thread, i was asking you guys whether your fixed wing mode was working in .700...

I just couldn't get it to work at first, then I got this itchy feeling on whether this was because when I tried to update to .700 the first time, it hanged at 82% and won't move further so I restarted my mavic and the Assistant 2 and did a refresh .

So I downgraded to .400 (figured since this is the first FW, it is smallest in size), then to .700 again.. this time it updated smoothly with no problems..

And my Fixed Wing mode worked from there.. just thought you guys should bear this in mind.. can't say for sure the first hanged attempt was the main reason, but as I said, got this itchy feeling it is related..

cheers

huh? you don't know which is the radio signal strength meter?

you are one brave dude.. hahaha

I don't need it. Probably handy in a high RF interference environment. Honestly I have never felt the need to find or look at it in 650 flights.

Just did a flight out to max distance 16,556' or 5.0 kms. Again only turned due battery warnings, having already over-ridden the RTH battery warning and and flown 2,300' beyond it. At this point I found and checked your icon and it was down one bar, so showing 3/4. So cant complain about that.

Light winds of ~ 10mph (airdata) which of course effect GS by double or 20mph out/back. Still landed with a health 27% battery having consumed 47% outbound at 26mph and a mere 26% returning at 40mph.
