Simulator Cant Take Off

Just got my Mavic Pro and thought I would give the simulator a go first while the weather is bad here.

so I managed a few minutes flight time before bed last night. got up this morning to give it proper test. However, I cant take off in the simulator. just keeps saying "taking off" and "obstacle". How is that possible in the simulator. Been searching for a solution to this for ages, but cant find anything about it.

Is the app reading data from the Mavics sensor? Move the quad to a clear area ?

Have tried the aircraft in a few places with the same result. Can get it to take off using the take off button, but when flying in the simulator the controller flashes "obstacle" constantly. How can I check if the app is reading data from the sensors?
