Smart Controller Update SNAFU

I'm attempting to update the Go 4 App, firmware, etc on Smart Controller for M2P. Prompt appears with Insufficient Internal Storage Warning. 9.82 Gb of 11gb used, but there seems to be no option to clear that, and I'm not sure if it is firmware or other. I checked, and there are no stored photos or videos. I have not added any apps. DJI assistant got to 99% of update then froze. I'm guessing the space on the internal HD, is taken up BY the firmware and I can't find any way to clear more space.
Tried to re-install update but now THAT has failed. Sounds like perhaps I need to Reformat the SC?
-SC Screen prompt: New Firmware is available - Remote Controller 01.0072
-but when I use DJI Assistant the Upload fails.
Endless loop of DOOM!

One of the sc’s that I have reads 4.50gb of 11.24 used.
Go to settings, click on storage, then click on other and see how much is on that.
You can also click on explore and see more files and folders.
If it matters, this controller is on .0064 and the app reads 4.3.38
Probably a bit behind on firmware which is normal for me.

I didn't hook it up to the computer at all and just left the smart controller do the update itself. Then later updated GO4 using the lighting browser to download, then went to downloads folder and installed.
