So what now?...

Easiest thing for FCC to do is to revoke all licenses ever issued to DJI, Autel, Fimi etc, citing some Natl Secty concerns (classified ofc). A prudent consumer would thus stock up on Skydio's, or get into DIY FPVs...
A trash can or dumpster is too good of place for Skydio junk.

If a drone has not been activated, that page provides no useful information.

As you know, I have several drones that I have not yet activated and by going to this page, I can confirm that the serial numbers that I have sitting there in the box have never been activated by anyone else. Means it is not a DJI replacement kit (which would show deactivated Care Refresh details) or someone hasn't taken that drone out of the box and used it. So my point is this page would confirm your drone is truly dormant. I realize it is rare that anyone would keep a drone still sealed in the box but I posted it anyway for the other 95% who will take the drone out and activate it and will benefit from the info. I also think it is important to get a snapshot showing your drone has a valid warranty according to DJI (despite the ongoing discussion about gray market drones). Strangely, one of my unactivated drones shows a valid US warranty in progress, not sure why.

Also the page will confirm if your drone (whether activated or not) is "eligible" for Care Refresh so that one day when/if it becomes available, you will be able to sign up for it. I suspect this is a simple field that toggles on/off to indicate if the drone has ever had the service and not based on whether DJI offers it for sale or not. I thought it was important to have this information now since I heard that DJI plans to come out with a new Care Refresh program and you never know how they handle older drones or US drones. If the page is replaced, you may lose the info.

I meant to say registered with the FAA (drone zone), which I was able to do without a problem.
I agree that a retroactive ban doesn't seem likely and would certainly be challenged in court.

It would constitue a "taking" under constitutional precedent, and something like this is extremely unlikely to be overturned by the SCOTUS. As such, the US Government would have to compensate all retroactively banned drone owners at fair market value, which would be a complete nightmare.

Of course, it's always possible the feds would interpret this differently, but then that's exactly what would almost surely trigger a stay by the courts on the FCC action, and trigger years of litigation.

You're sorely mistaken if you think it's easy for the FCC to do that.

Congress yes, by passing a law. FCC, no, would be challenged legally, and given the demonstrable harm it would cause many businesses, a stay against such a ruling is a near certainty, while the matter is litigated.
