I loved the soft case on my Mavic Air 2S for storage inside a backpack. Weighed next to nothing, was compact, once you cut off the pointless carry strap it was nice and compact, not overpadded.

The carry case for the DJI Mavic 3 Pro is a whole different story. They over engineered the **** out of it, the weight is excessive, it has metal buckles and way too much padding. Are there good options for a soft case for the Mavic 3 pro? I want something with minimal padding, compact so I can fit it well in a 100L backpack that I use on week+ long treks to carry all my camping and photography gear. Not interested in hard shells or foam padded shells, which take up too much space.

And while we are talking unfortunate designs, the combo gimball/prop protector that comes with the drone is not the best designed thing. Are there after-market alternatives?

Autel makes the best drone bags for DJI drones! LOL!
I've found that the Autel Evo 2 bag fits the Mavic 3 Pro perfectly.
Three batteries underneath on the bottom, drone with stock bra gimbal guard installed sits above them, across in the bag, and the RC Pro on top, with everything stacked in 3 layers. Pocket in front for spare props, microSD card wallet, lens cleaner, etc. You can still fit two additional batteries in the exterior mesh pockets on each side. Great carrying handle, comfortable removable shoulder strap. Looks like a standard camera bag rather than a drone bag. Find one used for under $50, or buy one new from Adorama. Make sure you get the one for the Evo 2, not the Evo. It's slightly larger to accommodate the bigger gimbal bra of the Mavic 3 Pro. The slightly smaller Evo version fits the Mavic 3 perfectly.

I've got the original M3 carry bag which can be converted into reasonably comfortable backpack. M3P fits in just fine. While not probably what you are after I find it to be invaluable when I want to hike with M3P. I can fit in a water bottle and a few snacks as well. I think it is quite well designed and the materials are of high quality. Not sure if it is still available though

Curious about the same. Looking for a case that will be small enough to go into my existing photo backpack. How is the 3Pro's shape and dimensions different from the cases for the Mavic 3? Thinking about shaving out a little foam from some of the smaller hard cases made for the Mavic 3....

This is a fairly compact and somewhat rigid case. It is still a bit too bulky for my liking. I used to have a something similar for the Air 2S and it was workable.

I am also trying to figure out if this works

The dimensions are nominally sufficient, but I can't get the seller to tell me if these are interior or exterior. It should be more compact and lighter than the case from AliExpress. It is only $20 so I will probably buy it and report back.

The gimbal guard and front of the Mavic 3 Pro is slightly larger, but trimming foam should work, as long as there is enough foam to trim off and still fit inside the Mavic 3 hard case.
