Hello guys,
Well i want to enter the drones world, for fun and also for commercial uses.
I put ny eyes on the mavic 2 pro and need some things to be more clear.
1. It will be my first drone and im planning to practice with it and start working after ill learn and get the licence.
Is the mavic 2 pro is enough for commercial uses?
I want to start with him and after 1 or 2 years when the inspire 3 will be released ill upgrade to a real pro drone .. but afraid that the mavic 2 pro is not enough.

2. I have read that the dji app crash sometimes.. if it will crash while flying my drone also will crash or he will return to the home point?
Would like to hear from guys that own the m2p and using it for commercial uses.

Thanks!

I do not own the m2p but seen photos from it and it does a real nice job. But as for the app crash. That’s usually all that happens. Don’t need an app or screen for that matter to fly all on the controller that’s really needed. But the app is more like a added to all tool.

Hi mate and thanks for reply,
So i understand that if the app will crash ill still have control on the drone just without the app features?
I want the m2p to practice , fun and after ill get some skills to start work with it.
After 1 or 2 years that ill have enough experience ill plan to get the future inspire 3 drone

First welcome to the forum. Yes. My experience is just that no app still have all control over the drone. I will say though when the app crashes it does kinda freak you out a little. Just always be patient. It doesn’t crash as much as used to. It’s a lot better now. I am not sure how much time you need that’s on you. So take it one day at a time and good luck

Commercial use covers a huge range of possibilities.
The Mavic is perfectly good or better than you would need for many possible commercial uses.
It would be unsuitable for some specialised uses.
It's as good as the Inspire for many uses (and probably better for some) and a whole lot easier to transport and set up.
You would have to explain what you want it for to get a more detailed answer.

2. I have read that the dji app crash sometimes.. if it will crash while flying my drone also will crash or he will return to the home point?
The only reason you hear of the app crashing is that people fly with phones/tablets that don't have sufficient processor and RAM.
Use an appropriate phone or tablet and you'll never see the app crash.
But if you were to lose the app, that doesn't necessarily mean major problems.
Lose the app and you still have control through the control unit since the app does not control the drone.
You can still fly, initiate automated RTH etc or reload the app and reconnect.
If you lost your controller or control signal, that would initiate RTH.

I have no complaint with the quality of the MP2 camera.
If you do get a MP2 practice with once you gain the experience you may find it is good enough for your needs depending on what your commercial use is going to be.

Hi Take0v3R,

I can offer my experience in terms of image quality.

I’m a commercial architectural and interiors photographer. I got my PfCO for commercial drone operations so that I could bring more imaging options to my business, particularly for when my 35 and 50 foot masts aren’t enough.

My main camera is a Sony A7iii (prior to its release, I used a Nikon D750). On my mast I use a Nikon D7100. I have a Mavic Pro, Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic Zoom.

The work I produce is to a very high standard, yet none of my clients have ever commented on the difference in image quality between the A7iii and the D7100, nor the Mavic 2 Pro or even Mavic Pro.

There are two main reasons for this:

1. My work isn’t generally being displayed on a very large format. Typically internet use and prints up to around A4 size. This means that those differences in image quality, which I can see while post processing, are generally not visible in my final product, which I downsize to around 4-5Mb files per client requirement. Tbh, I can see the slight difference, but I know exactly what I’m looking for.

2. I take my shots knowing the limits of the equipment and what I can/can’t push. It’s when you push the limits of the equipment that things can start to fall apart.

I’ve had shots taken from my Mavic Pro (not 2 Pro) where the final image quality was consistent with my Sony A7iii. In post processing, the image files could only take a little adjustment before they started to fall to bits. Taking the shots knowing these limits meant that I could work with it and maintain final output quality.

The Mavic Pro camera image quality doesn’t even compare to the Mavic 2 Pro - and I’m not just taking about resolution and large printing.

How you use the camera and how you work with lighting (for external shots it’s all ambient lighting) will have the biggest impact on image quality.

The bottom line from all this is that the image quality of my Mavic 2 Pro camera does not compare to my Sony A7iii with a Sony 16-35 f2.8 GM lens, but I can take my shots and process them in such a way that my clients can’t tell the difference.

I hope this helps you.

I have a pixel 3 with 128gb of ram. It has never crashed. I always reboot it and put it in airplane mode before flying. You don't want a phone call or txt msg popping up when flying.

As others have said much depends on what kind of commercial work you are intending.

The resolution on the lens of the M2O is impressive. You can greatly enlarge a small part of a wider shot and still have an acceptable image.

I have not had experience of the AP crashing — I use an iPad with the standard remote controller. I do sometimes get a message that the remote control signal has been lost. As I understand it, if it really is lost the drone should return to the take off point.

The big advantage of the M2P is its portability.

never happened in over three years of using different dji products i don't know where you got this stupid news but it sure is false

All my app crashes stopped when I switched to an iPad. Any disconnects where caused by a bad cable. If you have an iPad and known good cable, you won't have app crashes.

I bought a refurb drone to learn with. Spent $350
Then after I learned - - - not to fly into a fence,
a tree or a building it took off never to be seen again.
My wife was at the wheel at the time. Woman drivers !
Then I got my M2P and love it. Glad I did not start with
the expensive one .

Hhmm...dangerous ground...Woman drivers!...even if joking...

I had a cheap $50 drone that I used for a few months to practice. What I learned is they are fun, crash easy, and learning to fly manually is important. I recently picked up a Mavic 2 Zoom and love it!! I started with beginner mode for a few flights practicing squares and figure 8's. (Pro tip - if you're used to flying in video games, switch to config 3 in the controller). I find the drone easy to fly, but have crashed into a tree in my yard trying to auto land (Pro tip - fly up to 22ft and record home point before flying away LOL). Have fun, fly close, and spend time learning what happens when things go wrong (like low battery) before you head out too far.

Most of all, enjoy!!!!

I would also suggest getting a toy drone to fly around the house. They are exellent for learning how to fly especially for me getting used to right is left and left is right when the drone is facing you. They are also alot of fun and can help when you want to fly but the weather does not cooperate...

EDIT: The ones with hoops around the props are great as you can crash over and over again without hurting the props.

I’m a commercial photographer and 107 pilot and I use my M2P almost exclusively now. I do real estate, construction monitoring, stock footage, and web video imaging.

It is more than adequate for most imaging tasks and should last you for years until, or if you decide you might need something more .
