Something strange with my Air2S

I haven't flown Air 2S for about two weeks, so set out to re-charge batteries. DJI Fly says a/c is disconnected, yet I can start motors, and even fly, but no camera view. Down in the menu it says gimbal disconnected, yet I can raise/lower it. My battery level is not visible during these attempts, but the last light to "Full" is blinking, so I know that batt has a pretty good charge, certainly above 80%. I've never seen this condition before, any ideas?

Check the cable going from the remote to the mobile device.

Remember, I CAN start motors. The two rear lights on the drone are flashing green, indicative of a good connect.

You can control the drone without seeing anything on the display

Are you willing to open it up? There are connections that might come loose. They are manufactured with electronics silicone as a way to try and keep them in place. You need to check those carefully. it may have come loose. Usually this will only happen in a crash or if you Drop the drone hard, BUT they can come undone. If a the connections are fine and you can control everything else then it is either the Cable you are using or the ribbon cable to the camera from the gimbal is toast.

A few years back I had a similar issue. My USB cable from the controller went bad. I replaced it with a new and better quality cable and problems were solved.

The drone will fly fine with no phone connected at all, so that would explain why you're able to start the props. The Fly app isn't needed for that.

I'd guess the USB cable is bad or there's crud in a connector on one end or the other. Trying another USB cable might solve it, looking into the connector with a good light and 'scope might show some crud that needs cleaning out.

Both my recent 'issues' were because the USB cable was bad. One had been used for some time, the other was new. Before that, it was pocket lint in a smartphone connector. Most of the problems I've seen with electronics over the decades have been 'connectors'...

Thanks for all the kind responses; I tried another cable, and it's no-go, unfortunately.

What type of cable are you using? I think it may have to be a "OTG" (on the go) cable, which is different from a standard charging cable. This is the case for non lightening cables. Not sure if Apple lightning cables have a similar concept.

What type of connector is on the phone end...lightning, USB-C, or micro USB?

Lightning (iPhone 14)

Lightning (iPhone 14)

Looking at Amazon, any USB-C to Lightning cables for use with DJI drones are OTG (On The Go) cables. So a standard charging cable will not work. So if your spare cable that you are using isn't an OTG cable, that would be your issue.

I think firmware upgrade is the culprit here; only prob is using DJI Assistat 2 for Consumer Drone Series, it just sits and nothing happens. I've left it 30 mins at longest.

I saw a repair specialist; it was a bad connector was all. The alternate connector I had tried just wasn't appropriate for the equipment, I guess. Thanks for all the replies!
