spot in still shots but not videos

Recently I noticed a smudge spot in the middle of every still shot I take. It's towards the top and in the middle so I usually can crop it out. But I don't see it when videoing at all. I don't see anything on the lens but just bought a lens pen I am going to try to use to see if that gets rid of it. Has anyone ever had this issue before?

The aspect ratio of the video probably crops out the smudge on the top of the photo.

That's most likely true. I hadn't thought of that. Any ideas of how to get rid of it? I don't see anything on the lens and have wiped it several times. I bought a lens pen but haven't tried it yet. I just got it and am hoping that will help
