I just got off from an online chat with Trevor at Square trade. He confirmed that if I crashed my drone while flying, the accident protection plan will cover the damage. The cost for the Mavic 2 zoom is $89.99 for two years.

That seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Yes, it does. Does that cover flyaways?

I suspect that the CSR at Square Trade does not fully understand the nature of drone losses. If drones are not described explicitly in the agreement that Square Trade supplies, then I suggest that there will be a problem obtaining a settlement after a claim. All of these warranty companies have a convenient out and that is their ability to escape liability by simply returning the premium that was paid. No CSR at any company has the power to bind such company to a risk not contemplated. IMO, you should consider DJI Refresh or another program that specifically insures physical damage/loss of drones within the meaning of the term. YMMV

I will tell you that having prviosuly spent many years as a finance director in Car Dealerships Warranty companies always have an easy out!
I always read them carefully for the necessary evils I know will be there and as rp6 said that's my primary concern with fair trade.
This isn't a dropped my PS4 off the shelf situation

Bought my MP through Dell and got the extended warranty for 2 years from Asurion. They will fix they drone up to 3 times unless it is more cost effective to ship a new one. A lot of people in this forum talk about State Farm ($60 -$80 a year) that will cover the drone even against LOSS and THEFT!

According to Square Trade, their procedure for the repair of a damaged drone is:

1. They will send you a prepaid shipping label to the nearest DJI authorized repair facility.
2. After you receive a detailed invoice from DJI of what is involved in the repair, you send it to Square Trade.
3. Square Trade will then examine the repair invoice and determine whether or not it is covered.

Square Trade also emailed me a copy of the detailed contract. I read it through and about the only thing that I could find where they would not have to do the repair is if it is the result of negligence, although there are a number of other exclusions like intentional damage, acts of nature, theft, or loss.

I suppose it would all depend on how broadly Square Trade wants to interpret "negligence." I do have a copy of the online transcript I had with one of their customer service reps who did clearly state that damage while flying while flying would be covered.

I think I will email them directly with a specific example of damage, like in the course of landing it crashed into trees, and see what their reply is.

I think what you need to consider is that Square Trade is sending to DJI which means that it would then fall under DJI's definition of negligence so you're essentially buying refresh at a cheaper price the upside is you got it cheaper the downside is you're relying on a Third Party to administer the contract.
I'm interested in what State Farm's procedures are ?
though they will cover it against Loss and Theft which puts them at a significant advantage over everyone else.
Insurance is a tricky creature at the end of the day but it looks as though you are in the same spot as everyone with Refresh

From what I understand it is a policy that you put personal items on,(camera, jewelry, watches, drones , etc.
