Stageira is a village located at the foot of Mount Stratonikos (Strebenikos), at an altitude of approximately 500 meters, on the north-eastern side of Halkidiki. The distance from the city of Thessaloniki is 73 kilometers. They got their name from the ancient city of Stagira, which is located in a coastal position 10 kilometers further east, next to Olympiada and is the place where the philosopher and scientist Aristotle was born. At the entrance of the village today, there is the park where the statue of Aristotle is located, as well as many above-ground monuments , such as towers (one from the 16th century), public baths and Madem Aga's shrine
