Weather is not helping with my learning curve as it is raining about every day. I did charge up the batteries the other day expecting to get in a little fly time but it didn't happen. knowing I am not going to have time for the next week, I did sneak out today just long enough to burn the batteries down to 50% (understand that is where they need to be if not in use). I played with settings and noticed that side sensors were not on in tripod mode (thought they would be - need to check out the manual AGAIN). I did freak out my son by putting it in active track and letting it follow him while he tried to loose it. it did a great job of tracking him but I should have been in a more open area as I panicked when it started moving to some trees. Happily it stopped as soon as I touched the controls. THIS THING IS A BLAST TO FLY!!!

my goal is to try something new every time I take it up. be it a different mode or just a little further/higher (still amazed that I can control it at distances yall would think of as near by) RTH while nice still scares me, seeing it move without me making it is a little nerve racking. Still don't know how you can have LOS for this thing at anything close to the distance it is capable of. I have a hard time spotting it when it is 7800ft away.... Directional on the map is a wonderful thing!!

Also talked to a StateFarm agent today and will be getting a policy next week when I can get back to his office. I know DJI Care and a Insurance policy may be over kill but as a newby, I would rather be safe....

Your prudent in getting State Farm.Lose it and they pay and you can order a replacement right away.Hard to be droneless once you fly.Enjoy!

Sounds like you are off to a great start. The User Manual contains much more information than can be retained in one or two readings. Suggest reading it again and make notes on things you aren't sure about and page numbers. As you find the answers, make notes. Understand low battery warning and low battery RTH.

Wind speed at various elevations can bite you bad. UAV Forecast app is a rally good tool.

Remember a loss of display does not mean a disconnect from the RC to AC. You have rudimentary information on the RC that can help you get home. RTH and Pause are good friends.

FAA registration (Part 336) is required. Your registration should be displayed on the AC but no location is specified. Reward is an option.

IF something goes wrong and you are separated from your baby I expect you would like to get it back. Phone number, or Email or both (in a couple of places) might hasten it's return.

If you ever, even once, fly in an area where the AC can be lost, a tracker is a LOT less expensive than another drone. IF you ever fly where there is NO cellular coverage, a cellular tracker will not work. Marco Polo has it's own transmitter and receiver independent of cellular.

Keep going the way you are going and you will be OK
