Good observation - the mountain (part of Stara Planina) is called Ponor Planina - Ponor mean place where water sinks and If You loock at the terain it has a lot of "valleys" with obviously no escape route for the water but No water in them, there's a whole rivers just vanishing sucked in to the ground and exiting many kilometers away (I uploaded yesterday a cave with a stream coming out of it in the area)...
Very peculiar place I like it a lot!
