3 Sunday Droning @ Echo Park

Thank you Palerider . . . that is awesome work with that zoom lens. Even with that length . . . I'm still amazed at the stability of the aircraft. It would've been even better if the sun was illuminating that side of the US Bank building. Good flight. It was a worthwhile mission ;)Thumbswayup‼️

Nice, work, can I ask if you have ever been hassled about flying there? I was thinking about going there myself but after contacting parks and rec of LA they said ALL LA City parks are no fly zones based off some old law on the books. The same ordnance they reference for the observatory. It doesn't matter if there is a sign or not is what they told me.

I want to fly there but it's a bit of a drive don't want to be turned away after I get there.

I have never been hassled. I've flown at the observatory too. Two things I always do. 1) Film very early in the morning. 2) If told by an official to leave, I just say sorry and leave. Some LA parks have a "No Drones" sign posted. If I see that sign, I don't fly.

I was thinking Lake Hollywood, I have hiked up there before, nice running path, road etc. Funny thing is, they have an old sign on the gate about "no camera equipment". Which I dont understand. Do they mean no big professional cameras on tripods? I think after 9/11 they were concerned about posiing the wather, and since then it's no longer where LA gets it's water. But it's still infrastructure because of a dam. I have seen other people's videos there, I wonder if there are rangers there that would be pissy about flying there. Haven't seen a no drone sign.

I've flown there three times with no issue. Here is how I keep out of trouble there.

1. Get there early in the morning. I usually arrive at 8:00 am
2. There is a dog park and a fenced off place for kids to play. Fly from the fenced off area.
3. Get LAANC approval.
4. Don't fly to close to the Hollywood Sign. I film it with the zoom features of my Mavic 3.
5. Try not to fly over people if they are gathered together.
6. I've had people asking me questions about using drones. I enjoy talking with folks. I believe in being an ambassador for our cool hobby.
7. If someone in authority asks you to leave, appologize and leave.

I hope this helps.
