Just received my new to me Mavic 3 Pro with an RC controller. The drone connects to the RC controller flawlessly. However, when I attempt to connect it to an RC-N1 I had sitting around the connection fails. The DJI fly app shows the Mavic 3 Pro as a nearby device in the Quicktransfer app on the main screen of DJI Fly, and is able to connect to it in file transfer mode. However, when I switch to fly mode the connection attempt times out. I unbound the drone from the RC controller on the DJI Fly app (but did not remove it from my account). Is there secret handshake?

Figured it out myself.

  1. Unbind from old controller
  2. Start connection to new controller
  3. When the connection times out press the "Unable to connect" button on screen, then press and hold the battery power button until it beeps
  4. The pairing will complete within 60s

You shouldn’t need to unpair or unbind it from the original controller just to pair it and use it with a new controller. However, you will need to unbind it from the original controller to use for more than 5 flights, and Fly Away coverage only covers usage with the bound controller. You also need an internet connection for binding and unbinding, but not pairing.
