I also concur, that drone pilot should not be flying near the fire. Endangering lives, also

Seems to happen at pretty much every fire or major incident. Its why we cant have shiny things....

People complain about remote ID, registration and other systems but this is exactly why they're being considered - the drone community as a whole isnt grown up enough to self police and it IS affecting other legitimate airspace users.

Just stupid. There is no ambiguity here . . . the second a wild fire is registered with the local fire authority the FAA slams down like an anvil. They slap a TFR and NFZ for miles around that wild fire (essentially) grounding everything except emergency aircraft. You can't even fly a kite.

The second these bozos spun up they were in violation. . . . morons!!

Yes they do provided the laws are enforced and punishments sufficient.

Do you really think if there were no drink driving or speeding laws or punishments there would be no increase in either of those offences on the roads?!

Laws and restrictions work *provided* there is a realistic chance of getting caught (enforcement) and if caught, a meaningful sanction (punishment).

Do you honestly think laws/rules/restrictions have no purpose what so ever and serve no good?

Believe it or not, some people will "consider" doing something and when they realize it "might" have legal implications (driving intoxicated, robbing a bank, flying a drone over a wildfire) they decide to NOT do it.

Of course no law is going to stop EVERY bad actor but laws/restrictions do work and statistics have shown they do so across the board.
