TFR Alert 5/4/2017 to 5/7/2017 Covers Large Part of NJ, part of NYC and parts of Eastern PA

In case you haven't seen it, a NOTAM was issued yesterday creating a TFR from 5/4 to 5/7 for a 30-nautical mile (about 35 statute miles) radius NFZ from Solberg Airport (NJ). Here's the link 7/8609 NOTAM Details.

The TFR expressly states it applies to UAS and model aircraft. The area covered extends well into Eastern PA (almost to Allentown) and east to Staten Island.

That's a lot of people who can't fly beginning tomorrow at 9:30 pm through Sunday at 10 pm!

On the bright side, the area is expecting rain Friday and Saturday.

As some of you may have seen, earlier the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued Temporary Flight Restrictions ahead of the President's visit to New York City and Trump National Golf Club this weekend. These TFRs create a short-term no-fly zone covering 30 nautical miles around Bedminster NJ and all of the Class B Airspace around New York City, NY.

We are doing everything possible to help mitigate the burden that TFRs in New Jersey and New York will have on about 50 AMA clubs and many members in the area. We assure you that we are in conversations with the FAA and other relevant agencies to discuss the impact of the President's visits on our longstanding and safe community of modelers.
