TFR Question..

Hey Guys, Very confused with DJI TSR MAP and restrictions. I went to fly to my local park yesterday...I received a NO FLY on my controller... Went home and went to DJI/FLYSAFE.com and saw there was a TFR for that area. When I click on the TFR YELLOW CIRCLE I get the TFR INFO.. and it says its restricted from NOV 3 Morning till the END of DAY NOV 3

SO WHY was I locked out YESTERDAY 10/23/18 ???? ( see photo of TFR ) ... I was able to unlock the the TFR for 3 days from yesterday! Odd that it says NOV 3 ... and I was LOCKED out on 10/23 ANY THOUGHTS???

So the spot you have marked is within the controlled airspace of both LaGuardia and JFK so the TFR isn't the only reason you can't fly, it is because of the airspace restrictions at your location. That is why it says in notice that an Authorization Zone Unlock is Available. If you are within 5 miles you will get that safety notification that you are close to an airport and you just check that you accept risk in the app, but if you are as close as the pin you have on that image, to restricted airspace you will have to get permission and then go in and unlock the zone online before you can fly.

I don't think LGA airspace was the issue with the TFR... I was able to UNLOCK that area in yellow yesterday and was able to fly, it says it will be unlocked for 3 days! The TFR shows the START DATE 11/3 for a few hours so why lock me out now? Once I unlocked it on my computer I still had to unlock it on the controller at the field as well, is that normal as well? I thought once unlocked it would be done on the controller once logged in to my DJI account ..?

So it is really hard to tell from your picture where the location actually is. If the park is up buy College point, then yes you are in LGA's Class B to surface so you will always have to go through the online unlock. If you are more towards Powell's Cove then it might be iffy because the edge of the Class B brushes against it. If you are near Whitestone Playground, then you are squeezed right between JFK and LGA Class B. As my granddaddy use to say, you just need to move!

Pretty much that entire area is within 5mi of LGA. Are you notifying LGA before flight? Just because the app lets you take off doesn't mean you are complying with the law.
