The Future of drones?

New/better tech is always nice, and I hope that much of this arrives ASAP, but based on yesterday's discussions in the UK Government, I'd go with the following perhaps-not-so-desirable "features" as being just a matter of time as well:
  • Mandatory registration of owners/operators of aircraft, all aircraft, and pilots if not the same as the owner/operator
    • No doubt this will translate into even more hoops for foreign visitors too...
  • Registration numbers to be clearly displayed on the outside of aircraft
  • LAANC-style preflight authorisations for most, if not all, flights
  • Transponders on all drones over 250g or so
  • More/larger NFZs
  • More restrictions on purchase of drones (and RC aircraft kits)
  • More control over data captured by drones, because "China" (some of the panel were borderline obessive on this point)
At least they acknowledged that some of this isn't practical yet for cost/weight/technical/admin reasons, but it's all under consideration and from the PoV of government and safety a lot of it does make at least some sense, so "just a matter of time" seems a reasonable conclusion.

i mentioned a while ago that our hobby was at a cross roads, and that DJI had somehow reached a peak with the tech in their drones, that plus the ever increasing laws and regs being implemented has slowed the development of new drone related products from DJI and the expected increase in drone sales around the world all these factors will not stop me from continuing to enjoy my hobby.
