Try a longer exposure... I love 6-8 sec for getting headlight trails.

I have in the past.Different look and I find anything above 3 seconds can show drone shake that affects the non moving parts of the subject.No wind of course is a help!Or... you can try a fast highway.These cars were at 25-30 MPH.
