A cold, crisp, but still day offered a chance before the predicted snow for a day out, and a long-awaited target was our goal, Rhiwagor Waterfall, near Lake Vrynwy, Bala.

A long drive through misty valleys and over icy roads brought us to the car park and the mile-long walk in 0C conditions up to the falls,. Arriving it was not busy, so we flew the AIR3 and the AVATA2, capturing both cinematic views and FPV close-in fun flying up the falls, 35 minutes of flying chilled us to the bone, but leaving us with enough footage for this video!

We start with an intro to the Mission, the scene being set with B roll, then a fast high-level flight up the falls, followed by a low-level medium-speed flight close into the falls - with a nice wave from a guy on the top - and then some cinematic views before returning down the falls... I have a feeling that some of the footage may make for a nice slo-mo and will explore this in the near future...

All of the footage used is shown at the normal filming speed of 60fps - apart from the slo-mo section at 1min 23 to 1min 28.

This is another great demonstration of flying and editing skills.

You sure have lots of nice waterfalls and stuff to see. You do Great flying over them as well. Thanks.
Lol, thanks... this is 2 hrs from home, but worth the trip just for the fun of flying it :)

Lol, thanks, it was a fun place to fly, and as for the edit, well, I cannot lie, I asked a couple of friends to look at my original edit, and they gave me the ideas for the slo-mo part and the opening scene setting - hence the different music at the start... Without their input it would not look quite as good, but with their input I am very happy with it :)

Thank you for the exhilaration of traversing this amazing falls from the comfort of an easy chair. I would rather be there, across the Pond, walking that ascending path with the remarkable Avata 2 in your most capable hands. Alas, that will have to wait until I return to the UK.

Thank you... tbh its too cold and icy now to even consider going there again for a while, but I appreciate the sentiments... Trying to persuade hubby that we need another day out this weekend, but the temperature isn't going to get above 0C here, so he is a wee bit reluctant...

I appreciate that. Living in Minnesota, US in January. I would welcome a 0 C day. Supposed to hit 24 F for a high today, so I may fly my Avata 2 (a recent purchase), just to get better acquainted with it.
A question for you, when flying the waterfalls, do you prefer the Motion or FPV controller. I am trying to decide if purchasing the FPV controller would add much. ?

ATM I only have the MC for both my AVATA1 and AVATA2, I want to get an FPV Controller, but will then have to learn how to fly with it... tbh with the waterfalls, where you want instinctive movement away from any obstacles, the MC works really well, flying the the FV controller you would really need to be able to fly without thinking about the controls before I would risk flying the FPV Controller in the way I fly the AVATA's...

Thanks, Suzanne. I have been flying RC for many years, and some mini-whoops, so I may have a start on the FPV. You do a remarkable job with the Motion controllers.
BTW my avatar photo was taken in whilst enjoying a cigar in Lympstone, behind the Old Dairy Barn B & B. (I highly recommend it!) I obtained my Flyer and Operator ID a couple years ago and look forward to returning to the UK to use it again. I will probably have to renew (and Pay).

Keep your good work coming.

Another excellent video. Totally absorbing and beautiful. You must have eagle eyes to miss those pesky drone catching twigs
Thank you kindly... Yeah, the twigs are an issue, but keep far enough away from the main body of the tree and its not too bad - thankfully I do have good eyesight and the DJI Goggles are pretty darn good at allowing me to see the twigs with a little time to manoeuvre... Take 5 or 6 runs up and you get to know where to avoid so can increase the speed a little...
