Too bad we don't have the backing of something like NRA.

What I think may kill the hobby is the continuing hit from 'Kens and Karens' spouting off on what they perceive as Law, when they don't know what they are talking about. That will frustrate 'Hobbyists' into finding another hobby instead of flying drones. I don't think it will affect commercial use, though.
That, and listening to the attitudes of some people (here on this forum and elsewhere) who also fly drones thinking they don't have to follow the law... putting all of us in jeopardy of losing that right to fly. All it takes in the USA is a passed bill signed by the president to end it all here. We are getting close to that I am afraid.

You're right. And the Ken in this case is Ken Heron.

Flying (as well as driving, etc.) are privileges, not rights.

I think his views on this single incident or any other incident spurring legislators to kill of the drone hobby is well over the top and will just not happen.

I will agree with him on one point though and that is the respect of societal privacy of individuals who don’t want to be filmed. Just because we have the legal right to film anything in public doesn’t mean that we should. This is one of my pet hates at the moment where “auditors” harass members of the public, security and Police Officers, and in my view this aspect alone is going to incur severe restrictions on our hobby going forward.

Thousands of people all over the world are killed by speeding motorists breaking the law, but that does not mean that the ban on motor vehicles will be the legislative result. Many drug dealers and muggers use bicycles in the commission of their crimes, but they are not about to ban bicycles as a result. So criminality within a pastime will not be the death of our hobby, but more the combination of “Auditors” and their like provoking adverse reactions but flying within the law as it stands.

Another aspect that will curtail our hobby going forward is the commercialisation of delivery services etc as the skies become ever more congested and of course, the Government earning potential from commercial licensed flying.

If pervert pilot is on any of these forums, he should be permanently banned.

Why tho?
Can you explain your reasoning?
This Ken (Dobo) does a great job of explaining why Ken Heron's video is upsetting to many of us in the drone community (language warning):

There is a movement among some in the Drone community to unsubscribe from Ken Heron's YouTube channel.
I have.

Not a fan, much rather prefer some sort of strong legislation or even an "amendment" ;) ....or maybe more positive attention from the FAA.
It's all about the lobbyists and who back legislators with MONEY for there next election campaign. The big gun manufacturers give immense amounts of money to the NRA. The NRA intern sends their lobbyists to keep our legislators in line by giving then campaign funding. We don't have a Drone manufacturer funded organization that could create an influential lobbyist group. If we did, we could get much more favorable treatment. IF we had a well-financed UAV lobbyist group that would give campaign funds to legislators in return for favorable votes in the house and senate we could see potentially less threats to our hobby.

I just want to fly and take some pictures and videos and I don't really care what these guys (who are so full of themselves) have to say on their click bait videos to drive up their views count and get bigger checks from youtube and feed their egos .....I would rather watch videos that people have made during their flights...or some instructional stuff

:D Ken Dobo is going to love this one from Ken Heron

Anything wrong with it?
I don't see him breaking any laws. He does state to everyone that he will fly a drone. He is indoors so flying over people is allowed.

I've flown my Air 2 through some large spaces, but there were few if any people around, and I didn't fly over or near them. Ken H. had prop guards on that drone, but the Air 2 did not. Sweating the whole time!
