I recently bought a Mini 3 with the purpose of using it to inspect the farm. The fields are located relatively close to our house, at a distance of less than 2 km, but I can only get there with the drone at a height of 100 m, which is too high for a close inspection. The reason (I guess) is that there is plenty of trees in between, the closest line of trees is just 50 meters away from the place where I stand. For the sake of comparison, I was able to go as far as 6 km without losing signal (albeit at a height of 200 m), in a completely different direction where the closest trees are at 100 meters from me.

Does anybody know of anything that I can do to improve this? Short of cutting down the trees...

Perhaps an alientech booster might help. once upon a time, i used one on my autel drone and i could easily tell it improved the signal when the drone was flying at a lower altitude. Don't know if they make those for mini 3.

Can you do a waypoint flight and continue on signal loss ?
MP4 can do this - not sure about Mini3 . . .

Can you get up on a roof to increase your height while flying to do your inspection? Just a thought.

This is your only real option. The Alientech amplifier isn't much of a boost when there are obstructions.

The other way to improve this is launch from your fields, rather than on the other side of the trees.

Or, get an Air 3 and sell your current drone, then use a waypoint mission.
