ATM I can choose to charge or not charge my phone from the RC. Everything seems to be working really well. Horizon is pretty straight, dont get too many compass calibration prompts, gimball seems to work well...

After years of Windows 10 getying worse and worse with every update, I worry a bit about updates... they never seem to be all good, there's always a trade off at least.

I'm thinking I'll wait a while, see how it's working out for others.

I’m not an early adopter myself. I general, I like to hold off for awhile to see if any issues arise with software updates. But, this time I jumped in and so far, no issues. But, I’m not seeing a lot of improvement either. I don’t have the controller and probably will not get one.

That’s something up to you . I don’t fly what you have but I stay up to date with everything and never had any issues. Some have but I havn’t. Now that’s what I do is do them to report back.
If I was scared I’d stay in the house and just read. ?‍♂️

I'm not sure what being scared has to do with it. Maybe im missing something.

Does it take courage to update an app? Are the results that unpredictable?

If so then it would seem caution would be wiser....

Like I said if your scared to do new updates to the app or firmware
just sit in the house and read what members that have have
experienced by doing them. In all my years with DJI I have never
had any negative experiences doing one when they came out.
I did not mean nothing personal to anyone about it I was just stating a fact.

There's a difference between being 'scared' vs. being cautious. It's a known fact that many software upgrades are prone to having performance glitches - perhaps not so with DJI, but certainly with vendors like Microsoft, as the OP first stated. I'm unclear on what 'fact' your are stating.

Thanks. Yeah your first post just said " stay at home and read" which seemed to suggest someone might be too scared to go fly their drone.

From what experiences I have read about, previous updates have:

stopped phone charging from the RC. Allowed phone charging, but not offered the option to not charge.
Allowed charging of some devices but not others.
Prevented yaw and gimbal control on RTH. (Later re-allowed)

So yeah, there have been some negative outcomes from updates. I'm generally happy with how my drone is working, and while the battery management might be nice, i can do that myself. And I can still choose whether or not to charge my device from the RC. (Sometimes you have a near fully charged phone and maybe 25% in the RC, better not charging then)

So yeah, I'll read what others are saying. Thanks.

I’m sorry you must have just not understood what I posted.
I have always stayed uptodate with my IOS, App and firmware
and in 6 years never had any negative affects only positive ones if any.
Now that’s a fact Jack ??

First flew a P2V in 2013 and now an M2P....the ONLY update issue I have had in 8 years is when a P2V update bricked my FPV on the AC, specifically in the FC200 camera.

A very knowledgeable contributor reflashed the affected circuit board late last year and now I have the P2V's FPV back.
