I finally took the plunge a week or so ago to purchase the 8" tripltek pro.
I found a good few reviews on it before I lashed out, and was impressed enough to buy it despite the high price tag.

I have flown many drones over the years, but now have a Mini 3 Pro and have always used a large tablet to help me get the best shots.
Maybe its a sign of getting older, but I just cant cope with the small screen on a normal mobile phone.

Problem I've had with the tablets is even with a sun shade on, its still very hard to see it well enough in direct sunlight.

Hence my reason for looking at the Tripltek. Its a bit smaller than what I would like, but if the screen is that bright, I can make do with losing a bit of screen.

First impressions.
Its heavy :)

Balances well though on the Tripltek mount that I bought at the same time, although again, its a bit overpriced in my opinion.

One thing I didn't like about the lanyard that came with it, the rings that are on the ends of the lanyard that then connect to the mounting bracket are way to too big. They interfere with the control sticks they are that big.
Easy fix though, a couple of smaller ones from Amazon did the trick nicely.

The screen brightness - WOW.
Every review I have watched or read say the screen is bright, but you don't really know how bright until you use it.

No more sunshade required. It really is that bright.
You do get a bit of reflection of it in really bright sunlight, but angling it correctly clears that up.

The tablet itself is running Android 10. I was a bit concerned about that as we are now on13? I just hope it doesn't have a shorter life span due to this, hopefully it will be upgraded in time.

It performs as fast as any other Android tablet Ive had for what I use it for, so no complaints whatsoever. Youtube, drone apps, the usual basic stuff really.

The main reason for buying it was for my mini 3 pro. This tablet cost me more than my drone....I had to close my eyes when I clicked the buy now button :)

For the most part, it works a treat with DJI Fly. Smooth video, no laggyness, bright screen (did I already mention that !)

There is one problem that is letting the whole thing down though.
On my fist flight, I was recording away, and the camera view went black. An element of panic setting in, and I pressed the RTH, and landed it "in the dark."
Sent it up again after a tablet restart, and carried on. Only for it to happen again shortly afterwards.

It was a very hot day in the UK, and the screen was in direct sunlight.....you could probably fry an egg on the screen. I wondered if that was the issue, and thought no more of it.

The next day however, was much cooler, and the same thing happened. Tried various versions of the app, but couldn't get a fix.

Anyway, long story short, I can confidently say that the problem only occurs AFTER you have started to use Spotlight or POI mode. Within 30 seconds to a minute or so, the live view is black. It doesn't seem to happen if you use any other modes, or you just stay away from them.
But spotlight mode is amazing, so this is a bit of a pain for me.
The quick solution is to switch to album view, then back to camera view and the live view reappears. So at least its fixable fairly quickly, but it can also ruin a great shot in the making.
Incidentally, the camera is still recording and will also take stills while the screen is black.

I have spoken with both DJI and Tripltek about the issue.
DJI stance appears to be that as the device isn't on the compatible list, it could take some time for it to be looked into.
Tripltek have also looked at it, and made a few suggestions, but as yet, I haven't got an answer to the problem.

I hope that the two can get their heads together because it is a potential big issue for people who purchase the mini 3 pro and want the biggest and brightest screen available.

I'm not sure who can instigate getting a device on the compatibility list, but I'm hoping that this can be done.

So, my conclusion.
It really is a fantastic tablet, the bright screen really does make it perfect for drone use.
But, its getting let down by the compatibility issue, which unfortunately, the end user has no way of resolving.

Its an awful lot of money for this tablet. If you are not flying a mini 3, hopefully it will not have this issue, and you can enjoy it to the full extent, but for Mini 3 pro users like myself, i feel a bit disappointed right now. After paying out so much money for a tablet that is compatible with all drones, I feel let down.
I don't want to get rid of it as it has the potential to be perfect, but I don't know if it will ever get to that point.

Maybe when the SDK is released eventually, litchi may become an option.
Fingers crossed.

The Tripltek 8" Pro really makes my Mavic 3 complete. I briefly owned the RC Pro controller but the screen wasn't big enough to frame shots the way I wanted so it was sold in favor of the Tripltek.... absolutely no regrets. My lanyard setup balances it perfectly on a $20 mount.

The outer casing on yours looks different to mine, is that the 7 or 8"?

The one in the photo is the 7"...... but the 8" works even better with this setup. I have owned both.

Well, a month later, and still no nearer getting this black screen problem sorted.

I have given Tripltek and DJI the information that pinpoints the problem to the exact second that it happens when you exit Spotlight mode for the screen to go black.

Getting a bit frustrated to say the least now.
Especially with DJI asking for the same information 3 times now.

Its a great tablet, but if I want to fly my mini 3 Pro to the full, it just isn't working at the moment.
And its not just me either. I only know one other person who has the mini 3 pro with a tripltek 8 pro, and he is having the exact same issue.
Best part of 900 quid for something that isnt working right is not good.

If it makes you feel any better you are not the only one who has provided DJI and Tripltek with the same detailed information. Big wheels always seem to turn painfully slow.

I can finally confirm that this issue has now been resolved by the latest DJI firmware release.

Have to take my hat off to them for the work they put in to get to the bottom of this, not just with me, but with another member on here, who should take a lot of credit for nailing down the exact problem and giving all the info to DJI they requested..

So, to add to my review, I can now recommend the Tripltek 8 pro for use on the mini 3 pro.
