hi guys, i just wanted to ask this. when you put your bird into tripod mode for cinematic shots, what happens when you go to like 100 feet into the air. can the drone be blown away more easily when in this mode? or is the resistant to wind the same when in normal mode?

Wind resistance is equally good at height - maybe better as sometimes the wind is more unpredictable at ground level. I think the tripod mode works better at a lower level close to the subject.

Thank you my friend I was hoping that was the answer. Offcourse I will take the nessasary precaution and keep my eye on the bird. Thanks again

@redserv not sure which aircraft you are asking about, but tripod mode basically slows everything down in relation to stick movement ,and the response the drone makes to that movement, speed is reduced yaw is slowed and it allows you to make very gentle movements,if you have a MM then C mode is very similar to tripod mode because it reduces maximum speed then it would not be able to make headway in strong winds ,its mainly for flying in restricted areas such as through trees or structures

Sorry guys it's the mavic pro platinum. I basically want to orbit a chimney type structure about 75 feet high but was wondering how steady my.drone will hold at that height in tripod mode.

it would be fine on a calm day ,find something like a flag pole and fly your orbit in p mode then try it in tripod mode and see what difference it makes

The orbit mode doesn't work visually on small thin structures, but you can set a point of interest by flying above it and setting the point with the C1 C2 buttons on the back of the controller and setting the distance manually. Plenty of youtube tutorials. Got to say the orbit modes work really well.

This was on a Mavic 2 Zoom. It's not the DJI app but it's the sort of thing you can achieve without too much trouble. I could have flown it slower on the spiral but that's how I wanted to film the war memorial in my local park.

The flight control innards are not changed with tripod mode. All that changes is the interface with user controls. Flight stability is unchanged.

Thank you Dave I always wondered about this, thank you very much.
