Was watching live YT at Drone Camps RC

I’ll try and find one that does require pay for view.

Here is a free Chinese/English version which references the WP article above.

Both the Washington Post and Verge have articles but are both pay to view. Many other article seem to link back to WP or Verge.

Couple of YT channels covering it

Chicken Little smiley needed!

The sky is not falling, at least not yet. The EO is to determine whether Chinese drones pose a threat to National Security or not. So far, there has not been any evidence that they do. The articles are full of "ifs" and "coulds" but nothing concrete. Those who worry about what "could" happen spend their life worrying about a lot of stuff that never does happen.

Adam Bry (Skydio) must be wetting himself with excitement. If you think banning DJI will foster innovation in US manufacturing of drones. You'll have to find some new manufacturers. Because the ones there are now are certainly not cutting it. And, you'll need to spend your retirement savings in order to purchase one.

Meanwhile, the rest of the planet will be using the best at way less expense. Sounds like a "good deal", right? We showed them!

Just like they've been confiscating all those cars that people have been silly enough to register ??
Only when you register with the central government. Drones are registered with the one entity under one ruler who word is final so inevitable means "shortly."

Different states, different rules; a lot harder to get to confiscation so inevitable means "eventually." Doesn't help if Cali bans all cars, people will just go to another state when Cali calls for confiscation but it will happen eventually when Cali decides e-cars are only allowed on their roads. Smaller entities are less likely to take action if it's not so effective but the federal government knows there is only one way to stop drones from flying anywhere and everywhere all at once. Another comment would be "registration is the essential mechanism to enable eventual confiscation." That's the one and only reason to have registration, what else is it good for?

I thought you were going to come back with registration is good for revenue generation. Yeah there's some of that but it's secondary because citizens aren't force to pay it, they are free to drive their car all over their property and never pay a dime to the government.

I can tell you this, you cannot have confiscation without any type of registration.

Mark this post, see you in 4 years when the ban doesn't clear the airspace. /s

Airplanes have been registered with one federal body for a little over 100 years now.
I guess that's because the government intends to confiscate them too?
Registration = Confiscation.
That's what the NRA would like you to believe, but it's nonsense.

Confiscation as in forced registration from a free people so you can deprive them of their due process which is different from nationalizing private [company] assets like commercial airliners where you don't exactly need traditional registration to accomplish and you don't have due process issues. When the government decides to take over United Airlines planes when they've had enough of these mishaps, they won't depend on registration to do it. Or oil refineries or steel plants or Boeing....which aren't registered. You can't nationalize the people's individual drones so you register them. Can't believe you don't know this! o_O

I don't seem to be getting through to you.
Your reply has nothing to do with my post.
But I still thing that your suggestion that Registration = Confiscation is nonsense.

Yet the flightless drones are immune. They are far more prevalent to the point that everyone has at least one. The government continues with the fear mongering, Americans are easily manipulated and frightened.

The only problem is Skydio has stepped away from the consumer market. At the moment there is no real competition for DJI and on a personal note it's been a pleasure working with them over the last several years, they're always above board and professional. This whole thing is so unnecessary.

National security issue = BS. A Chinese or Russian satellite are far. more invasive than any drone. There are no other free countries in the world attempting to ban drones based on national security concerns that I am aware of. No concerns here in Canada, EU, UK, most of Asia ect. I guess are American friends will not be able to buy the Mavic 4 Pro or any other DJI drone in the very near future. That is aa shame because probably 99.9% owner are not spying but flying drones for fun or business.

Meta, in spite of your good efforts, I don’t think you are going to get through. I have 87 years of experience, but I’m still in the dark as to what some of these people actually believe.

This is funny I am going to adjust the years slightly and use this one. But this is also the entertaining and informative part of being on the forum! If we all thought and felt the same or knew what everyone was going to say, it would get boring real quick. Happy Sunday everyone from the proud owner of a new Mavic Mini 4 Pro (much thanks @Dave Pitman).
