Two new failed Mavic 3 batteries?

A question about the Mavic 3 batteries: I have two Mavic 3s. One is a Mavic 3 Classic, and the second is a Mavic 3 Pro. One was a DJI refurb (Classic), and the other was brand new. In both cases, there was a battery that failed to charge. The batteries would charge to a point and then start blinking the third charge LED. I pulled them from the drone and tried the DJI charger; the charger immediately went to a red LED.

DJI replaced the Classic battery under warranty, and I suspect they'll do the same for the Pro battery. Is this a common problem, or am I doing something wrong?

TIA

It's not super common but yes, DJI batteries do fail like you mentioned and fortunately, DJI is pretty good about replacing them. I've done 2.

Depends upon when you purchased them.
Battery warranty is only 12 months, and is cycle independent.
The bird is brand new. I bought it at Moment Camera's warehouse sale. It was an Open Box, but the box and factory packaging inside were sealed. The other two batteries were at zero cycles. I also bought DJI Care, so I should be covered.

DJI Care is separate from the manufacturer's warranty, and only covers the drone itself and a battery in the event of a crash, but it should also help establish your warranty purchase date. The DJI Care deductible for a claim is comparable to the cost of battery replacement. Open box hopefully won't prevent your purchase date from being considered the date of purchase for warranty purposes. Battery manufacturing date is a factor in failure, but not warranty time. DJI also has discretion to make exceptions to replace outside of their official warranty coverage. Good luck!

Is the manufacture date on the outside of the battery? If not, I could check the other two in the DJI Fly app.

No, the manufacturing date isn't on the battery and isn't available in the Fly app, but AirData displays it in the uploaded flight logs for each battery. However, the 12 month battery warranty is from the date of purchase, not the manufacturing date, which works to your benefit. The manufacturing date of the drone should be on the box, and any included battery would have to have been manufactured before then. Unless your purchase receipt states open box, no warranty, you should be fine. The battery likely died from neglect by the retailer, by not selling it soon enough. Battery hibernation states from the factory only last so long, as the batteries are expected to be placed into service shortly thereafter, or within 12-24 months at the latest.

Additional FAQs:

Can I return Open Box Gear?

All Open Box Gear is final sale and not eligible for a return. Open Box gear will have "Open Box" in the title of the item on your invoice. However, a 12-month warranty from the delivery date is still applicable for Open Box Gear.

Check with Moment. They should replace your battery for free.
That's their Open Box Gear policy above.
