Update on Mav 4 Pro confiscated by Customs

Exaggerated click-bait title. The drone is on hold at Customs, not confiscated.
So it would appear this may be due to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) and not tariffs since there is no money due.
On hold indefinitely by a government is called "confiscation" in the real world and if it's a drone, it's "contraband." Just like asset forfeiture is "confiscation."
When the government takes your property by force without due process or compensation (especially with no method to get it back or no appeals process) and won't give it back (often without an explanation), that's anarrest confiscation.
But no one cares....until it happens to you. That's how this works these days.
Are we so far gone that we don't even recognize this any longer?

Why be so hyperbolic about this? The video author says the drone is on hold. Confiscation is a different matter entirely, and there's nothing to suggest that the drone has been confiscated. Asset forfeiture is involved in criminal matters and isn't relevant here.
What suggests that the hold is indefinite? What makes a drone contraband?
Rather cynical outlook, maybe based on your personal experience. The folks I know aren't like that.
It's an old phrase that dates awhile back, I thought you would be familiar with it.
Kinda like my constant past warnings that government was coming for our drones and numerous warnings that new drone laws are on the horizon and are coming soon and my repeated reminders that every time the government gets involved and you invite them in, only bad things happen.
You can keep ignoring it until it too late, like the defacto DJI ban we are in now, I saw it coming, did you? Didn't happen exactly like that but close enough. And you can keep trying to make it seem like it's all in my imagination or bad things happen to me and I'm just angry or projecting when I'm not disappointed and disgusted because I've seen this before and can't understand why you cannot. But the way it works....it's not until when it finally starts happening to you, it probably too late by then.
Today we have much higher prices, unusually high tariffs, no service, no repairs, no new drones, no old drones, no explanations, no hope, a corrupt aftermarket rife with theft and fraud, zero tolerance DJI locking policies, and a true imminent ban right around the corner at the end of the year. Last step after that is confiscation and your registration will play an integral part.
We still have time to help save the drone community and turn this around if you'll just recognize the truth and we change the attitude as long as I can fly what I have which only goes so far. I'm not claiming they want to clear us out to make way for the big boys. I'm saying they're scared and pushing back and we're losing, no winning.
I usually get a little unhappy first and then most everyone else follows later, I get it people are still not convinced all is lost. I don't believe we're happy until everyone is happy and I see a lot of people getting needlessly hurt. The hobby should be growing by leaps and bounds by now but 12 more months of this and we're as good as done.

Back in the 60's and 70's, with the exception of fully automatic assault weapons, Government regulation was still very relaxed, yes, you needed a license to own, but it was a matter for the local police Superintendent, who more often than not was equally relaxed about someone being a collector.
Then in the 80's Government got directly involved and the local registration records ended up being used to target grass roots level (legal and responsible) owners who were not members of gun clubs... who were given a choice: surrender what you own to the 'gun amnesty'... or face confiscation and prosecution.
Customs & Excise was also used to stop the import of items (new and 'historic') to private addresses regardless of the fact that they had been bought and paid for... sound familiar?
Ah yes ... your constant harping that whatever you imagine might actually happen one day.
Still none of that has come to pass as yet.

His drone, bought in some other country, was dropped and broken by him on Day 1, and DJI USA graciously agreed to "repair" it for him, by billing him for $165 to replace a broken Mavic 4 Pro gimbal, and trying to ship him a brand new Refurb from DJI Canada, which is now in a Customs hold. Boohoo for him!
Total click bait! The drone in question isn't his, and it hasn't been seized or confiscated. It is being held by Customs. It's DJI's problem, not his. They will send him another one, if this one won't make it to him. Or, he can ask for his $165 back and DJI will send him back his broken drone bought in Asia!

You can thank current administration and congress for this one. It's all part of the ongoing China bashing campaign. I certainly hope you get your equipment back, but it doesn't sound good.

What the heck are you talking about? It's a replacement drone for the one he sent to dji for repair. It was shipped from dji to him and is his drone. If they send another one it will be confiscated as well. It's much to do about nothing unless it's your drone and $4500 you're out of I suppose.

So what will change the longer they hold it? Will the drone transform itself somehow to become legal? Semantic difference: you are still separated from your property and livelihood.
It's being held by US Customs. It happened to one of my DJI orders, too. We don't understand the reasoning, process, or details of the Customs holds, but they're not confiscations.
Why must situations like this be dramatized and exaggerated? It's simple. The fellow's drone was held by Customs, as has happened to many others. If the outcome is like other cases, the drone will be returned to DJI or shipped to the customer. These poor-pitiful-me youtube posts are tiresome.

This is due to the anti-china and tariff thing. It could take a long time for them to get over their latest tantrum. It might old model before it's returned. We're not under the normal rules anymore, it's an authoritarian government now.
