The hub won't work. There can only be one master in a USB "network". Normally the master would be the phone but when connecting the RC, the RC has to be the master. That's why the micro port on the previous remotes were rectangle.

What's worse, I have yet to see a so called hub provide C ports that can be used for data. They usually can only be used for charging. The so called hubs are more like universal docking stations.

You'd have to use BT headphones if you want private sound while flying

makes sense. Have found some bluetooth headphones to try out.
