Vertical shooting

Hi everyone, I just got my new mini 3. My only frustration is that when I go to shoot in portrait mode from landscape mode while videoing, it doesn't let me. It goes fine when I'm not videoing, only when I'm videoing does it not work.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Stop recording, then change modes and begin recording again.

Stop recording, then change modes and begin recording again.

I know that method works, but I want to be videoing WHILE changing modes. Gives a very creative shot if possible.
