Just had my third flight with the Avata 2, and it's incredible—unlike anything else I’ve flown. The hand controller makes it so easy to maneuver.

Flying FPV with the goggles is a whole different experience. No more struggling to see the screen in bright daylight.

I used to feel a bit anxious flying my Mavic Mini at a distance, but with this drone, that’s no longer a concern.

I’m starting to get more adventurous with close-proximity flying, though that brings its own kind of nerves. But it’s all under control, as long as I stay cautious.

Here’s my uncut video from start to finish—hope you enjoy it!

I feel the same way about the Avata2. Glad you're having fun with it. I'm still trying to find a subject that's worthy of shooting. I've flown mine a few feet off the deck, but I need to get better at the turns. Shrug.

Amazing video taken with what looks like a toy drone. I have two older drones; Phantom 4 Pro v1 and Mavic Pro v1 that I can fly with my old White goggles, but can't find anyone to be my observer. I see many videos of people flying with goggles with no one around. Maybe I should get a manikin to take with me so it looks like I have an observer.

"Yes, Greg, it’s a toy drone—exactly why I enjoy it. If it were a ‘serious’ drone, I doubt there’d be much fun left. Those are for surveillance, war purposes, search and rescue etc. I’ll stick to the harmless hobby version, thanks.
And just to clarify, my spotter was my young grandson. I keep him out of my videos—too many strange folks on the internet these days.
Oh, and that mannequin ( that's manikin in CDN....eh) comment? We’ll call that a Freudian slip and move on.
Anyway, enjoy your freind ! I’m all for everyone having fun however they please.
Cheers!"

Practice, practice, practice—that's my main focus. I'm getting a bit bolder, though I know it could backfire if I'm not careful.

I spend a lot of time navigating through the nearby forest, staying close to the ground and flying at a controlled speed. That way, if there’s an accidental bump, the impact won’t be too severe. Remember to set your drone's “return to home” as “hover in place” in case of connection loss (though I’ve found the signal penetration is excellent). Keeping within a reasonable range makes reconnecting easy, and if all else fails, it’ll simply hover and land once the battery drains, which is safer than climbing to higher altitudes and risking tree branches on the way up.

Keep up the practice—great shots are just around the corner, and you'll be ready to capture them!

Cheers!

I flew my Avata2 last night just to see what the footage looks like. Perfectly easy to fly at night (as long as you know the area and know there are no hidden power lines, etc.) Video looks pretty grainy. But still fun if you want to get a little casual flying in.

I like using it for exploring. So portable and fun to zip around and check out an area.

Bah! That's old camera drone thinking... FPV is for flying! Imagery worthy of shooting is frosting on an already delicious cake 😁😁😁

@kamviclance, keep practicing and work your way up to this... and this is not even that amazing. There's plenty more agressive stuff that will have you wearing Depends™ as you wet your pants 🤣

BTW, consider picking up a neo for U$200 to practice with... you can comfortably be more agressive, much less to lose in a catastrophe.

"Too late… I think I’ve already 'spoiled' myself with my tame flight. But hey, I’m in too deep to turn back now!

I thought about going for the NEO setup too. I mean, we already have the goggles and controller sitting here all ready for action, and it does have some pretty cool moves on it's own. But then I looked at the price…

So, NEO itself? $249.00 with one battery (and really, who flies with just one?). Add two more batteries at $68.00 each, and we're looking at a grand total of $385.00 (CDN).

Still, I might just go for it. I mean, it’s not like I’m addicted... right?"

"Just a couple of quick questions—do you actually fly to the beat of the music, or is that a post-edit magic trick?

Oh, and if that’s your school bus… isn’t it about time for the afternoon pick-up? Whoops!

Loved the careful 'look both ways' moment, by the way. Keep that drone on a short leash!

Cheers, awesome video!"

Thanks... and yes, I fly there (no where else) with hear-through headphones, and that was the music I was listening to. That's part of the thrill that can't be shared through a video – the real-time rhythm sync between the music you're listening to, and the moves you're making.

If you can find a safe place to do this with FPV it's epic. No camera drone flight can come close.

As far as thr neo goes, just don't eat for a week 😁 It's worth it. I love the Avata 2, just flew it yesterday in manual, and my skills had improved because of manual flying the neo. You'll be able to learn more because you'll be more comfortable pushing it to the edge.

It's not a substitute for the Avata, but an extension.

@kamviclance

Wow. I'm new to this drone thing where I just got an AIR3S and a NEO but I goto get me an Avata 2.
That is so cool.
