My Mavic 3 Pro keeps giving me a “Max Altitude Approaching” and I’m at sea level and haven’t even taken off yet. Been doing it for a few months.

I also got camera obstruction and yesterday prop damage and everything is fine. It clears up after a minute or so just wondering if it normal or others are getting these warnings?

I keep it updated and have the altitude set at 1640’ I believe.

Are you certain it's saying Max Altitude, and not something more like you are near to an "Altitude Zone"?

Altitude Zones are part of DJI's GeoZone restrictions, shown as a grey fan-shaped area extending out beyond the end of major airport runways. Your DJI drone will be restricted from climbing up into, or passing through that area, above a certain height.

It's a ceiling restriction. You are allowed to take off and fly below that restricted height. The warning is there so that you'll know the Altitude Zone restriction exists and you know won't be able to climb higher than that ceiling restriction, nor be able to pass through that zone when approached at a height greater than the ceiling.

It's important to experiment and familiarize yourself on how your own various models behave when encountering any GeoZone. They're all different.

Altitude Zones can be particularly confusing because you are permitted to takeoff and fly beneath them. But if you happen to encounter a RTH issue, and your RTH height is configured higher than the Altitude Zone ceiling, your drone may bump up against the invisible edge of that restricted ceiling zone and refuse to go any further until a critical low battery forces it to autoland, leaving you wondering why it never came Home.

Hence the need for the warning, so you're aware the zone exists nearby and to avoid such a potential conflict. Configure your RTH height to be below the Altitude Zone restriction and there's no problem.

Some of the better newer DJI models know enough to automatically descend, allowing them to pass underneath an Altitude Zone during an automated RTH.

Yes. I believe you’re correct. I’m very near a large airport.

Thank you much.
