The knowlege was gleaned from watching YouTube videos of pioneers in battery recovery and, well, yes - patience was required when charging up the cells as I had to babysit them to ensure no overcharging.
The only other thing you need is the tools - I used some plastic car trim removal pryers, a small jewellers crosshead screwdriver and a soldering iron with a thin point tip. I used a Nicad battery charger as well to bring up the cell voltage.
Reasonably easy but go slow and remember you are dealing with LiPolys.
The CP2112 adaptor chip is available at all the usual online stores as are the 30cm ( in my case) Dupont jumper cables.
