Hi, i just got a Mavic Air fly more combo...I am new to the forum but not to drones...I have played with the spark and had a P3 standard and a P3 advance. So took the plunge on something new...
I would like to hear what works and what doesn't ? Cases, range extenders or what you have tried......
Thanks Saltydogs

The best bag I have found, by a mile, is the Peak Design Everyday Sling 5L. It's almost as if it had been purpose built to carry the Mavic Air and accessories. Incredibly well made and one of the best bags I have ever owned (I am also a photographer and have gone through dozens and dozens of bags). I also own the 10L version of that same bag because I liked it so much.

Other than ND filters I don't really have any accessories, but not for lack of trying as I love to buy accessories for my hobbies:

I bought a landing pad, but returned it because hand takeoff/landings are so unbelievably easy with the Air, plus it keeps it perfectly clean at all times and I am super an@l about that.

I bought landing gear and also returned it for the same reason above.

I bought a wind speed meter, but it's use is very limited because A) it's quite obvious if there is too much wind to fly or not and B) Wind can be dramatically different in the air compared to on the ground.

I don't fly anywhere near 4KM away and in most places it is illegal to fly beyond VLOS without a spotter, so range extenders aren't of any use to me. The Air's signal has been absolutely rock solid in my personal experience, even in urban areas.

If you have the Fly More Combo, it includes just about everything you need in my opinion. The case it comes with is also pretty decent for home storage.

If you fly with a tablet, you could look into something like the MavMount which is very good, and possibly a screen shade.

Make sure you get a memory card with a rating of at least "U3" or "V30" (ignore the numerical speed ratings on the card packaging) - you need a minimum sustained write speed of more than 12.5MB/s for 100Mbit footage on the Mavic Air. I don't believe your other drones had this high of a bitrate, so you may not be able to use your old memory cards.

Most importantly, congrats on your new purchase and welcome to the forums!

Hello, and Welcome!

Haven't added much to our Mavic Air... yet.~

However the one really useful accessory we did pick up was originally intended to be protection for if/when we drifted out over our shoreline in unexpected wind bursts.

It's a set of four sponge balls (they actually work well, btw), BUT they came with four Leg Extenders which we NOW use full time. It enables us to land without incident in grassy areas which may be tall enough to interfere with our props. Not an infrequent occurrence, btw.~

Just FYI this card is too slow to be using on a Mavic Air - minimum sustained write speed is only 10MB/s as per the card labelling. I would not recommend anyone use this particular model of card.
Actually the 256 is dedicated to my Samsung Tab. I maintain 4 of the UHS 3 64MB cards: I go with only 1 per battery and keep battery #5 in reserve for updating in the field if necessary. You are correct, in that the slower speed is not compatible if one wishes to record at 4K. (I don't always do a 4K.) This was my error. I have upgraded some time back to the UHS 3 series. The older cards are now backups for my car cameras. I am using something along the line of: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Micr...ocphy=9029023&hvtargid=pla-469719052797&psc=1 for the drone now.

Ah, it is for your tablet - sorry I did not catch that. Thumbswayup Just didn't want you to lose any footage! The one you linked is perfect.

ND Filters, extra batteries, Case and MavMount is all you need

The basics for me xtra batteries, ND Filters (16,32,64 ), MavMount 3.0, FreeWell shade and a good travel case everything else is optional.

Wow, thanks for all your suggestions
I am going to get some more batteries. I need to find a nice travel case that's water proof.
I am retired so as long as the weather is nice I can fly anytime. My other hobbies are being on my boat and amateur radio.

I use the fly more bag that came with the MA. It holds everything I need. I only bought ND filters and a tablet holder for when I use the TAB S2. Mine is red so I don't feel the need to buy a skin for it.

Batteries (I’ve just bought a 4th so I get around an hours flight time in total), the fly more kit is well worth the money, ND filters, landing pad (stops dust and crud getting blown in to the motors).

I went from an H to a Spark to an Air to an Evo and the one thing I recommend to anyone who asks is a landing pad. Also, the larger the better. You might think that a landing pad the size of your drone is what you want, but I like a certain margin of error and I don't like the hand catching.
