For those of you that live in cities, what do you guys do when you guys want to fly your mavic? Do you guys drive far away from home to an open area to fly your mavic or do you try to be as responsible as you can when flying in the cities?

Yup, have to travel. I live near NYC, so there are so many NFZ's, that it's difficult to find a place to fly. Have relatives in NJ and Pennsylvania that aren't in a NFZ, so when I go visit, I bring along my Mavic as well.

Yea thankfully I don't have any NFZ where I live, mainly just at the edge of 5 mile radius around airports/runways. As bad as this sounds I find myself going somewhere open in the city and doing some quick flying to get some shots then pack up and leave less than 10mins later. I do stay well below 400ft and away from any group of people as I don't trust this mavic yet since it's still so new. It's crazy to watch people like Casey Neistat on YouTube that fly his drones in a lot of his videos in NYC and not get in much or any trouble yet

I take mine out of the city, the beauty of the Mavic is the small size so I can take it and a FF DSLR out a dog walk or take the Mavic on its own out a cycle. Aside from it not being legal to fly in builtup areas here when I'm out in the countryside there's less chance of interference or issues caused by that, little for the Mavic to hit and if something does go wrong there's a better chance of the Mavic surviving and in the worst case, it's not going to hit anyone if it crash lands.

I've started a poll, im curious to see how many people travel far outside the city or fly cautiously around where they live. Just wanting to get an idea. In a perfect world people would follow all rules but we all know that doesn't happen.

I took my Mavic out a few times to the local park just to try it out soon after I received it. But now it's been just sitting in its bag in my closet most of the time. I don't feel the need to be constantly taking it out to fly it. The reason I got it was to take some nice videos and pictures along the California coast and other scenic destinations when it warms up, not to take pictures and videos of the local parks. So I see it as a tool, just like my nice DSLR camera and high-quality lenses which I don't take out every weekend, either. When there is a good opportunity to use my tools (either my DSLR camera or my Mavic), I'll use them. In the meantime, they stay safe and secure and ready for use in my closet, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

I don't live in a city but I will say when I'm in a city I fly wherever I get the inkling within the rules. If I am flying where others can observe me or see my bird I fly cautiously. If I'm in the countryside I fly a little more freely.

Just put Casey Neistat on your drone and you'll be fine[emoji33][emoji23]
