Love it! Ingenious! Hope it works for you. I guess the only thing that could go wrong would be if you hesitated and quit going forward and backed up. You could possibly get the line in the props but i think the thrust would keep it from happening. As long as you go forward and then drop it what could possibly go wrong?
 
At this point I'm scared to fly my mavic over water. However I have a Hubsan h501s that only cost me $250 that I could rig up to do the same thing. It has a range of about 500 feet. That's with the antenna modifications. I'm going to see if I can do this to the 501.
