Hi, NLD claims to be able to switch transmitter into 1.8w mode. Is there anybody here who took bird apart and has a picture of what actual chip and amp is used there and if it has any kind of a heatsink on it?
Just sounds very odd, why would dji use 1.8w unit if it is set to operate at 0.4w normally? Odd.

It normally operates at less than 0.4, its only the USA that allows 0.4 power levels, rest of the world its more like 0.1w. The dji software has always had a boost mode, you used to have to switch it by modding the go app, now they do it in the AC, same thing though. Maybe there is no such amp package that is rated for 0.4 and the one they chose is rated for 1.5w.. maybe its cheaper that way to build.

Have a look at one of the videos where they fit external antennas might reveal what you need

Been flying with my zoom boosted at 1.8 watts not a problem probably have 25 flights since boosted and weather has been a constant heat wave 91° f to 95°

Because it would by way cheaper to use an off the shelf rf chip than go to the trouble of designing and building their own.

Still would be great to see a photo of the chip assembly. I could not find it, unfortunately. Too bad thunderdrones is out, he would know.
