This will be my first real drone, so it's crazy to me that I spent $1000 on a tripod just to get sharp photos, and this thing can hover 400 feet in the air in wind and get sharp photos at night. Unreal.

Got my pro this morning at 10:15am. Updated firmware and test flew it. Very quiet and stable and video is amazing on 4k tv. I'm impressed but still love my original MP too.

Zoom in to x2 on that pic certainly shows that the mav zoom is not needed

Maybe. I found the zoom inn my inspire wasn’t great for that as your fov is less making it harder to spot. But sure, 2X might be better for that

Is this your first drone? I remember the first drone I bought I was soooo scared of wrecking. I have owned the Phantom 3 Advanced / Inspire 1 Raw, so at this point I am just happy to have a drone again!
