As shown in an above post they make a magnetic connection where the micro usb is left in place. I bought a dozen of these from china (real cheap) and it has saved me an untold amount of money replacing kids phones. Charging is only a magnetic click away with zero stress on the unit connection.
Really agree with this suggestion. I use a short USB cable from the USB-A connection under the wings of the controller to my clamped phone and leave the micro-USB on the side for charging only. I then use a NetDot magnetic USB cable (purchased from Amazon), and just leave the micro-USB 'B' tip plugged into the controller. That way I just wave the end of the USB cable near the plugged-in tip, and it snaps into place and starts charging. A gentle twist then separates the cable end from the tip , leaving the tip snugly connected to the controller. No pressure on the micro-USB A socket at all.
