worth updating an iPad mini 4 to iPadOS?

Mini 5 will future proof you from the obsolescence of the Mini 4 which is now very long in the tooth and almost 3 years old. DJI keeps making the GO 4 app more powerful, requiring the fastest processor to keep up. Mini 5 is noticeably faster than the Mini 4 at all tasks. Additional storage memory beyond the minimum is of no real benefit to GO 4. It won't make things any faster. I updated from a Mini 4 to the Mini 5 as soon as it became available, and would highly recommend it. Mini 4 is truly sluggish by comparison, because of the outdated processor.
Thanks very much for your quick reply?I’m sold going to get a 5 now,
cheers

forgot to ask you your opinion on storage capacity 64 or 256 I would of like it if 128 was available but not on the 5.
64 GB maybe too small
What do you think?

If it will be strictly dedicated for basic flying, save the extra money and get the 64, as that is plenty, even if you cache your flight videos in 720p. Otherwise, get the 256 if you plan to also screen record while flying, or use the Mini 5 for other things, or take photos and video, or also have an iPhone with 256, as I do, so you can have the same apps and storage on both devices. I'm using a dedicated 9.7” iPad Pro for flying with only 64GB, but I don't screen record, as it is on an older iOS which doesn't offer screen recording. Good luck!

OK, then maybe I'll get an iPad mini 5 with cellular...or maybe even an Android device. I'm scared of other devices after hearing of compatibility issues with the DJI software, but if I was confident that it would work, I don't care who makes the device.

For the happiest DJI experience, stick with iOS. Mini 5 cellular will be fine, unless you want a larger 9.7” display, in case the most recent low end iPads are plenty good enough.

I was using both Android an iOS. For me the experience of flying DJI drones is much smoother on iOS.
also you don’t need a cellular tablet. As it was previously mentioned, a WiFi tablet with an external gps device would give the gps ability. Of course, the best is a cellular tablet.

This is incorrect. All iPads have a built-in compass. What is missing from the Wifi Only iPads is GPS, which is only needed for resetting the home point to the RC location. Everything else can be obtained by hot-spotting your wifi only iPad to your smartphone.

Thanks for some clarity. The hot spotting to my pocketed phone is a Gr8 idea to get some of the GPS abilities. Like others, I really need the larger screen on my iPad Mini2 to see clearly and safely.

I have to say I have never been an Apple person. When I got my new P3 Pro I also got a Nvidia K1 Shield and it worked great. Then Android got updated to 7 and everyone had problems with the K1 Shield. The answer was to go back to Android 6 and all was well. So many people had the problem that I caved and got an iPad Mini 4 cellular. It has worked like a champ on all of my DJI drones. I actually ended up getting another one so I didn't have to switch between my drones that often. And although I am still not an Apple fan I have to say the iPad mini 4 works great.

I still have my K1 Shield on Android 6 with an older patched djigo4 that I use from time to time but I really enjoy more using an iPad for drone flying. I actually don’t really care about the os as I am using both depending on my needs.
