CAA have published #CAP1789. It's the EU Drone regulation package to be adopted by all member states in July 2020. This is a major shift on focus from segregated Commercial/recreational classed #Drone flights in the UK, to one class of "remote pilots". This means you will no longer need a #PFCO ( permission for commercial operation) as the purpose of a drone flight will no-longer be relevant.

At last, a few rules based on safety rather than profit. Thanks for the explanation.

CAA is the Civil Aviation Authority in a lot of countries in the world, but there are many variations, the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) in the US and Transport Canada (TC) in Canada are just two.

PFCO stands for Permission For Commercial Operation, those to vary a lot from country to country.

I do agree that when anyone uses an Acronym they should perhaps right it out first. But something like the FAA it seems a bit silly. However, we are indeed a very international group and we should not assume we all know each others Acronyms.

FYI, that of course is all just IMHO ;)

ttfn

the takeaway from the video is the potential elimination of the lunacy that a flight is either a commercial flight or a recreational flight. instead the risk will be based on facts.

that way if you just want to get out and fly like sole said, depending on what you are going to fly and where you are standing, you can just....fly.

what kind of usa recreational pilot is going to send a laanc request anyway, nobody is going to do that. :) :)
