I have the F-Stop one and it certainly does work at preventing most of the glare from the sides. I notice the improvement in most of my videos.
The plastic is not brittle like the one on the Mavic, it is also not as hard but it won't shatter like the Mavic cover. The only problems are that in sport mode when you slam the mavic around hard the black of the cover appears in the shot. Secondly the two rear clips that hold it to the Mavic are not as thick as they should be. I still think it's a good investment not just for protection but also cutting back glare and that slight prop shadow that I sometimes see.
