Government Kills Drone Industry In Canada

Possible for you to post a link to the new rules? We're headed to Van in the fall...

This new "discovery" effectively eliminates all UAV usage in Canada. One part of it does that, and that is flying around animals. Animal life exists on virtually every square foot of Canada, even the Arctic. Further, is an outhouse a building, then even in remote areas, where there is only an outhouse, you can't fly from an area where they exist. It just goes on and on. Those of us who are responsible do not fly around aircraft, or within the restricted zones. It's the newbies and those who will never join MAAC who will continue to be a problem, not the folks informed of the restrictions. As a responsible flyer, I have turned down commercial job offers and have had to tell the requestors that the flights requested would violate the restrictions placed on those of us who have had training such as CCUVS certification. Guess we're just going to have to find another country. BTW, drone racing would be a clear violation of the rules as you would be flying near other people and technically are not flying LOS (Line Of Sight) without a spotter, in which case you will be jeopardizing that other person (the spotter) and you're probably in or near a building - within 75 metres. MAAC issued a release today alerting us to the prospect of seeing a great influx of membership to our clubs. Further, if the same sense of threat was applied to other areas, we wouldn't be flying aircraft or driving cars, or doing a myriad of other things. We "had" gun laws, now we have drone laws in full force. Virtually every video I see on Youtube would have been considered to have broken the Canadian regulations now. Just saying!
