Hi,

After just recieving my MPP, I wanted by safety, to backup firmware of both RC and bird.
Used DUMLdore v1.92, the latest at my knowledge.
RC was backuped OK. Got a 29,380Ko file named " dji-system.bin "
The drone itself never passed. After a while at each 3 trials I got an alert:
" Timed out attempting to contact FTP server on the device. You can test for
connectivity by going to ftp://192.168.42.2 with a browser. "

I used Filezilla and did connect to that IP. No file can be downloaded as
it seems that files are NOT in ascii format.

For now we are stuck...:( o_O

Forgot to say that before freezing during the AC backup,DUMLdore DID
download 26 files, all names starting with wm220..........sig

I don’t believe that DUMLdor is compatible for the MPP. At least not yet.
Please correct us on this topic. You need specific files for this to work.
I would ask @digdat0 for more info regarding the MPP.

supposedly the platinum has the same firmware as the pro, i think the .1000 firmware? not 100% sure .. its odd that backup works and update fails.

what do you see when you ftp into it? can you get into the upgrade/upgrade folders and then see a folder named backup? screenshot that

its the firmware, mavic can be the same with 1.3.1000 on, it times out on large files, code can be modified to increase the timeout time

Filezilla I don't think will work, it will see the files but to download them as you need to decode them with the aes key

digdat0 Thanks for your fast reply.

I am afraid you are mistaken. Not trusting yet DUMLore for MPP, I just tried to BACKUP the fw's from the Platinum, NO update
upload_2017-11-11_20-17-9.png . Again RC backup seems to have worked while I each time got the alert while backuping the drone itself. These are the files that where backedup from the drone. Thru Filezilla I only got empty folders

For; "what do you see when you ftp into it? can you get into the upgrade/upgrade folders and then see a folder named backup? screenshot that" give me a while and I will post back.

Just wondering why not just use the DJI app's to update. I'm just thinking anything one does to complicate the process is just asking for problems.

This is a TCP/IP issue, not a firmware issue (or a MPP issue). Go to this thread and start here:
How to rollback Mavic firmware

Answers start at around post #352.

The answer specific to Dumbldore is at post #396 (How to rollback Mavic firmware)

Different issue, his connects but times out, its known by the developer and he increased the time before timeout but a few still have issues

Please READ my posts...

I was just trying to BU fws from a brand new Platinum. Why the heck would I try to upgrade fw on a device just out of the box...? I am NOT trying to downgrade either.

For digdat0 again,

FTP file download does NOT work... Files are considered as non ASCII and just do not pass thru. Here is the image of downloaded files, compare with what is seen on Filezilla, you see that there is a serious problem.

upload_2017-11-11_21-55-48.png

I see your problem its the 2801 file, the biggest is usually 801 and the developer has made it so that one has chance to download
801 41MB
2801 72MB

I'll ask if he can release a version with double the time

Hi Guys,
Thanks for this fast reaction.
Unfortunately v1.93 does NOT solve the problem.
We used to have 25 files dowloaded, we now have 26, almost all with different weights.
It now freezes, same manner at file:
" wm220_2801_v01.03.00.34_20170907.pro.fw.sig "
Screenshots below, compare weights...!
Thanks. -= Guy =-

Assistant 2 or the app will tell you exactly what version is on your AC. If it is indeed a higher then v1.4.0000, it is untested and I cannot even assure you the decryption keys are the same or correct still.

When a file is downloaded from the AC or RC the internal FTP server encrypts the data before it is sent. It grabs the file and saves it as filename.tmp while it’s encrypting. Then that file is sent over FTP with the correct name. This process is all on the AC/RC.

In the later firmwares they went to lengths to slow down this encryption, this is why the timeout has been extended again and again.

Also the file you are timing out on is actually an RC file. In the factory they use a big master file that has AC, RC and Goggles modules. This means that the RC files get pushed into the bird even they they are not ever used by it, it’s just left over crap. In future updates these extras aren’t put in and removed.

In the past there were issues with a couple of people backing up with slow PCs and USB 1.1 etc ports but extra delays were added in. There has been various backups done on v1.4.1000 and v1.4.0000. I have even personally backed up with these firmwares and tested within hrs of release.

TL;DR

There are two possible causes for the timeout:
-They have delayed the encryption on the aircraft again
-Your connection to the aircraft is too slow and you cannot transfer the 75MB file in 4 minutes
