US government abandons plan to blacklist Chinese-made drones

It's more of counter-drone technology and practices.

US government abandons plan to blacklist Chinese-made drones

If you want to skip the tweet from Ice Barbie, the actual press release can be read here. I wonder how much of the $115 million allocated for this will end up at the Strategy Group? It wouldn't be the first time that happened.

    Survey of Unmanned-Aircraft-Systems Operators

I responded to the survey. It was fine. If it helps the cause, so be it. If the Deep State were coming after me, they wouldn't waste time on a survey.

US government abandons plan to blacklist Chinese-made drones

You missed the point. It doesn't matter what the FAA does as long as the FCC does not certify new DJI drones. But I updated my avatar, so I'll be protected.

US government abandons plan to blacklist Chinese-made drones

It doesn't matter. FAA registration is about airspace safety and accountability, not communications compliance. It's not their circus, those are not their monkeys.

Elise Stefanik will not run for governor and will not seek reelection to her house seat.

Stefanik started as a typical mainstream congressperson. Prior to Trump, she was considered to be a moderate to conservative and was willing to cross party lines to get stuff done. She decided the way to get ahead was to hitch herself to Trump and went all in. She has learned that relationships...

US exempts some foreign-made drones from FCC import ban on new models

Sony was making a cinematic drone, but pulled the plug on it last year because it couldn't compete with DJI. With the effective elimination of DJI from the US market, they may reconsider bringing it back. Panasonic worked with drone companies to adapt their camera technology to work on drone...

US government abandons plan to blacklist Chinese-made drones

The title of this post is misleading. The FCC did not roll back the ban on licensing new drones from foreign countries. The FCC had previously exempted a small list of drone vendors. The article linked by the OP referred to the Commerce Department, not the FCC.

Wish I had thought of this before

That's the point. It's not applicable. The quote/unquote reason for blocking foreign drones was over vague and unproven security concerns. No one has ever accused Toyota of sending back data from cars on the road to Japan that could be used against the US. Huawei was added to the Entity List...

Wish I had thought of this before

It's only a precedent when it applies to the case being argued. You picked cars as an example. There are numerous restrictions and limitations on how cars can be used. The argument being made by the government is that there is no legal usage for a foreign-made drone. They provide a way out...

[Pilot Institute] The Effect of Banning Affordable UAS in the United States

AI would have drawn the chart correctly. I think the person who created the chart just transposed the titles for the incorrect sessions.

These are numbers that need to be presented to Congress.

Pile on and Tell Me Why I am Wrong

That was the point. It was in response to something extreme. This isn't a black and white issue. It's situational.
