Just curious, but why are people so anti Remote I. D.

Sure, anything is possible. But is it likely? A "Karen" is more likely to call the cops on someone flying a drone than using an app to get the serial number of a drone. It's far more likely that someone will fly a drone where they are not supposed to be flying in and and will interfere with...

By operating a drone with RID, you have already given consent for your information to be broadcast. The decision in Brennon v. Dickson ruled that RID does not violate the Fourth Amendment. The court stated that flying a drone in open air is a public activity, similar to driving a car on public...

Yes, but how does that apply to this current thread in the context of RID?

To save time watching the video, Direct Remote ID, the version of RID baked into the drones, does include the controller's location. Dronetag RIDER is an interesting device. With a list price of 999 €, or about $1170 USD, this is not a consumer device. What it does do is to give organizations...

That's more of an issue with the app than the actual requirements required by the FAA.

Are Automatics , technology & AI ruining skills and the industry ?

How is AI going to identify bolts not being tightened or even installed? Take Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 as an example. A door was missing four bolts and that caused a sudden decompression incident.

    Amazon delivery drones crash!

That scenario is based on too many assumptions to be practical in the real world. The purchase/work/deployment order availability is probably a non-starter. But if a crane can be identified by the shape, it should be avoided. The drone can't see the cables, and the drone would just get in the...

    Amazon delivery drones crash!

Come with me if you want to live. Seriously, we already have drones with weapons. It's just with explosives, not firearms.

RID does log the controller's location. It's not semantics; it's literally written in the requirements (in the US).

Since most of us have to fly within the line of sight, it's not terribly difficult to identify the person flying the drone. Most people don't care, very few people even have an RID app installed. If some person with an agenda is going to track down a drone pilot, they are going to do so with or...

    Amazon delivery drones crash!

Detecting cables is difficult. You have a thin, straight object with low contrast. On a bright day, with a light colored object behind it, it can be easy to detect the cable. On an overcast day, the level of contrast between the cable and what is behind it can drop, making it harder to see. A...

Are Automatics , technology & AI ruining skills and the industry ?

I wouldn't go as far as having an AI system apply the brakes automatically while the plane is on the runway. You want to avoid the situation where you would have to apply the brakes. Take the crash on Wednesday evening between two Delta jets at LaGuardia that were taxiing on the runway. The...

Are Automatics , technology & AI ruining skills and the industry ?

AI is like any disruptive change in technology. Some jobs will be eliminated, some jobs will be created; everyone else takes advantage of the drudge work that the AI is able to do. AI didn't replace doctors with nurse practitioners and physician assistants. In that case, correlation does not...

    Android Changing Rules About Apps

Most people are not going to do that. Nor should they have to in the first place.

That's not what he was describing. I think he was referring to AI-assisted systems that would analyze all of the incoming flights and would warn ATC and the pilots when there would be a risk of collision.
