I found the answer: The app displays a different aircraft position than the video. The video is correct and allowed me to complete the calibration.

My guess would be if your friend is only there to make the transaction with the client, then I would think you're fine flying the drone. With you flying the drone though, you inherit all the responsibility of that drone and the job it is performing.

Checking in from Northern Illinois. Not quite a pilot yet, but studying for my part 107. In the meantime toying around with the DJI Tello. Will eventually be trying to program drones once the Microsoft SDK is available. Looking forward to learning from all of you!
