Mavic Mini - flying in Australia and New Zealand

The situation in Australia is pretty straightforward. The usual rules concerning 120m ceiling, over people, 5 km from airports etc. apply. But otherwise there are no particular restrictions. No registration with CASA is required at time of writing, but that is in the pipeline. There is a...

Li-po reality check...good thing i watched this video

I think the DJI smart charger and multiple batteries provided by the flymore kits take care of most of these problems. I’d be interested to know if any member who follows the recommended discharge and storage recommendations has had any puffy batteries, or other type of issue. I never leave...

    My MA Recent Experiences

    1. letting your battery setting return the drone 2. disconnecting your controller to see if the RTH works 3. understanding you can still control your flight without the GO4 app I admit I haven't read the manual, but I've done a lot of YouTube research. (1) I should know this, but will the...

Recently back from the Lofoten region in Norway. It's a beautiful part of the world and Norway has reasonably relaxed drone rules.

    Perhaps you’ve been here too?..

Greetings fellow septuagenarians! Pleased to be in your company. Actually I think there are quite few of us codgers in this game. For me, the drone is an airborne tripod. With respect to the OP, I’d say go for it. Yes, the rules are becoming onerous in some countries, but there are plenty...

    Perhaps you’ve been here too?..

Sounds like a great plan. Don't know about the rest of Scandinavia, but Norway has reasonably relaxed drone regs - jus the usual stuff about being away from airports, below GA altitude and away from people and property. I'm just back from there and I can assure that some of the scenery is...

Mavic 2 Accessories - what are the most important?

This is a very good point. Keeping the aperture in the sharp range is important. I'd forgotten that M2P is sharpest at wider aperture. OK I'm convinced. We generally have bright sunshine in Australia. ND filter to keep aperture in the sweet spot makes sense for still photography.

Mavic 2 Accessories - what are the most important?

I found one in Tasmania. Could that be yours? Was it blue on one side and orange on the other? Atlantic Conveyor? .?? Actually you’re a long way away, so I think I’ll keep it. Fooling aside, some people say that a landing pad is a worthless waste of time and a rip-off. I disagree...

Mavic 2 Accessories - what are the most important?

Thanks for the review. I’m interested mainly in still photography. Do I still ND filters? Will the gimbal/hover hold the camera steady enough for long exposures? Cheers

    Problem

So yes, it’s IMU which needs to be calibrated, not compass. IMU needs a very flat surface.

Traveling on plane with your mavi pro

I carry the fireproof bags just in case, but I’ve never needed to use them. The batteries (3) are in my drone pack in my carry-on. I’ve done a lot of international travel with the Mavic Air and so far never had a problem.

Buyer Beware Never buy DJI again (Flyaway)

At 2500 ‘ distance and 100’ above take-off altitude, I doubt you could have had it visual. If you maintained line of sight, we might not be having this discussion.

    My first crash

Lucky escape. Don’t forget to recalibrate your IMU. The Air is a frisky beast, especially in sports mode. I bought a P3 standard to learn on and had 3 major crashes. (2 of which were my fault.). The P3 is pretty bullet-proof and I only had to replace props. :) The Mavic Air is not so...
