Real world performance, benchmarks and some thoughts about DJI RC Pro

My RC Pro arrived a few days ago, and with so many negative reviews out there I seriously considered returning it without opening it. But I decided to try it for myself, and so far I'm glad I did. The first thing that struck me was the display. Then the snappiness. Then the general "feel" of...

Official verdict for me. Not buying M3 Cine.

Wow, what an amazing video. I dream of creating content like that.

Preflight Checklists on the Smart Controller?

I hoped to use this feature of Airdata and was disappointed to find it is only available on the Enterprise plan. As checklists are important for all pilots, not just “enterprise” subscribers, having this basic feature on all paid plans (like “Gold”) would be a nice addition.

Any RC Pro owners that can answer questions?

I installed the Airdata app, but I did the same on the original SC. There’s no App Store though for installing other apps.

    RC-Controller Downloading App

I just tried this too on the RC Pro using the original instructions as a template, and it worked. 😎

    What's up with Mavic3 and trees ?

The Max Altitude setting is to control how high the drone can fly. It's in the "safety" section but not related to the adjacent Auto RTH setting.

    What's up with Mavic3 and trees ?

Yup. You can specify the max RTH altitude but it decides when to use it. BTW I didn't set the "49 ft" settings. There was an app update this week and that must have reset what I had in there.

First M3 Flight, coming from M2P

Thanks, this was a helpful review. IMO those JPEGs (from the tele) look ok in small size like for Twitter, but quickly look bad when zoomed in. I hope the shots from the Hasselblad camera are much better. :)

    Good source for OEM accessories

Understood, that’s why I’m looking for a reputable (US based) source to buy at least one more (DJI) charger. :)

    Good source for OEM accessories

Are there any recommended sources to purchase genuine DJI accessories? As it takes me over half a day to charge my batteries to go fly, I’d like to get at least one extra charger so I can charge at least 2 batteries in parallel. I have the multi charger but it only charges one at a time. I see...

Question about battery storage between days flying

OK, thanks for the feedback everyone. I take it from the comments that there isn't a solution. When I've flown, and assuming I don't cut my flights short to end up with all of my batteries at 50-60% charge, but instead at 20-30%, I do have to charge them, and sit and watch to make sure I don't...

Question about battery storage between days flying

Hi everyone. One thing that takes a lot more effort than it seems it should is the act of getting batteries to a proper (~50%) storage level. Unless I severely curtail each flight so each battery ends up at that level, I find myself having to literally sit and watch the batteries on the charger...

    FAA 107 exam

I took the 107 course by Pilot Institute and am glad I did. Sure, I could have found the material myself, studied it, and taken the available practice exams. But with a structured course, I knew I’d get detailed and complete instruction, and could take the exam with confidence. If you want to...

    mavic lighting

I use an Arc 2 and an Arc XL on my M2P. The 2 just fits on the bottom behind the gimbal and the XL sits on top of the battery.

I’m going for it!!! The FAA Part 107. I’ll nail it! I’ve got determination!!

Yes, I used Pilot Institute and am very happy with them. Greg is a great instructor. I didn’t do the “2 week challenge” thing though, as I preferred to take more time to really absorb the material (my goal was (and is) to really learn this space, not just pass the test). I started on Feb 2 and...
