Thanks for the response. I should've been a little more specific...what is the point of "landing protection?" I have mine switched off because I prefer to have full control of the aircraft as it is landing, because I feel I can be more precise than the auto-land feature.
Just curious, what exactly is the point of the downward sensors for landing? I feel like 99.9% of the time I feel a heck of a lot safer bringing the drone down to the ground on my own vs. that auto land it does.
I'm not looking to break any regulations, but I want to fly over a lake nearby and I see I'll be nearby the 5 mile radius of a seaplane base. UAV Forecast doesn't indicate that this is a NFZ, so I'm guessing it wouldn't auto-land into the water, but I want to be careful.

I rarely use RTH only because I can get the Mavic landed much faster by flying it manually. I mostly use RTH when I'm trying to show off how neat it is to someone else :D.
Had a strange gimbal failure yesterday while using Active Track. As the subject changed directions and started running, the Mavic seemed to just barely maintain its target, but before it could start moving the gimbal threw itself into an awkward angle and got stuck.
