Long range fliers - share your tips of flying long range?

One thing that has bothered me a couple of times is when you loose connection at max range (several km away) due to some pilot error, and the connection is not restored automatically until the ac is just a couple of km away. That is something to be aware of with the M3. It depends on conditions...

    DJI RC Observations and Quirks

I sold my RC but still have a 'not-updated' mini3p which connects to my RC Pro. The RC2 is a tad brighter if I remember correctly. And no lag, and better range. Just better, but only usable with the wing-clipped m4p in my setup. Luckily we have Avata and the larger drones..:-)

    DJI RC Observations and Quirks

Agreed. And now with the 400 feet limit on the m4p I am done with their mini-drones. I live in a country full of hills and mountains, so now they killed it properly with the new regulations.

    Prop compatibility question

They will not fit, and not same size.

    DJI RC Observations and Quirks

I had more or less exact same experience. However, my m4p came with the RC2. A lot better than the RC and almost more convenient than the RC Pro, due to weight.. Not saying you should get the RC2 though, you don't need it as you have the RC Pro which is the best of the lot in my view.

    Air 2s 8200mAh battery

No, unfortunately not. There is a slight performance hit as the drone becomes less aerodynamic, but wind resistance was not affected at all in my view, maybe slightly better in fact.

    Air 2s 8200mAh battery

Of course, the battery is NOT made by DJI, my mistake, I didn't check it properly as I was convinced it was. It worked well though, but now I have sold the air2s including the battery.

Max Altitude slider on DJI Fly app goes to 1640ft(500m)?

In a way you misunderstood. It is 500m above 'take-off point', not above 'ground level'. A very important difference, especially in hilly destinations :) .

    Mavic 3 plastic smell

My mavic 3 has about 200 hours in the air, but haven't checked battery cycles (I rotate 4 batteries). I have never smelled plastic, ever, from my mavic 3. Not even slightly.

I've got some strangeness going on with my Mini 4 Pro controller

Just press the icon in left corner of compass once again. I think that is a standard feature, I have been confused by that myself.

pros and cons of the new mini 4 pro

My first impression is that it is darn good, and I love the RC2, but video out not working currently. The attached pic was taken in 48mpx mode.

If governments world-wide force manufactures of hobby-level drones to introduce hard and unhackable limits on range and height .......

500m range limit will certainly kill it for many users, including myself. The height-limit is of lesser importance, in terms of photography which is what I use my drones for.

    Air 3 Mavic 3 comparison

You are right about that. If I can avoid using a drone I will. I do love the M3 Hasselblad but would of course want to send up a full-frame with interchangeable optics. I think any photographer would want to, sooner or later. So far that is impractical and too expensive.

    Air 3 Mavic 3 comparison

Exactly. I love my mavic3 though, it has 185 hours in the air so far.

    Air 3 Mavic 3 comparison

It is poor compared to quality gear. One day you will probably know what I mean. Mavic 3 is still the best consumer camera drone I know of, don't get me wrong. It's about weight, cost, mass-production. Sony has a camera drone of better quality, allowing mirrorless cameras, but that's not...
